Well I finally bit the bullet and started taking Tindamax, 500mg 3xday.
I am also doing bicillin injections 2xweek, rifampin 2xday, and probenecid 2xday.
Is there anything I should be looking out for with this med?
I know about the alcohol warning...but are there other issues that others have experienced?
Do others "start out slowly", if so how, and what about the "pulse" idea?
My LLMD PA Rx'd this but did not elaborate on much, or the how and why of "pulsing".

I am having to start out slowly on it (1/2 a pill a day) mostly because I herx hard from being a slow detoxer.
My LLMD wants me up to 2 pills a day before I can go home and continue treatment on my own until 100% well.

Anybody else have experience with tindamax dosage and pulsing?
I still can't get a straight answer from LLMD office on the "pulsing"...
For now I'm doing one 500 mg per day and see how that goes?

I pulse tindamax. I am on for 3 weeks and take the 4th week of from all antibiotics. I only take 500mg of tindamax on M,W,and F. I really can't tell you much other than that. I started treatment about 2 months ago and so far I haven't seen any difference.

I believe the idea with pulsing Tindamax is to bring the cyst form out from hiding.
When you switch to your other abx it is suppose to kill them.
I pulse Tindamax 500mg 3 days on and 4 days off. I take Azithromycin the other 4 days.
I take Tindamax Fri, Sat Sun. Azith Mon, Tues, Wed Thurs.
The biggest thing I notice with Tindamax is I get very emotional and cry all the time. So much so that I'm taking a week break from it and see how I am.
This suggestion came from my LLMD. So far I think it's helping.
Been on Tindamax a little over 3 mo.

Tindamax is supposed to kill the cyst form as well, so I've never really understood why you have to go off of it for a week to let the keets come out.

some llmd's say flagyl and tini open the cysts AND kill the lyme-others say the abx only open the cysts
i don't know...but maybe they kill some...but it's better to go in with biaxin or bicillan so you know they will be killed
when you pulse an abx that isn't a cyst buster-the idea is surprise the bugs and kill them...when they realize you are there-they go to cyst-so you stop a few days...let them come out again and then you zap them again...
if you are 4 days on tini or flagyl and then 3 days on biaxin...they might just hide and not come out...

I think many pulse the tini or flagyl to prevent the toxic buildup that ensues when so many cysts are busted open and then all the 'chetes are killed off.
Tini and flagyl are very potent and the die-off can be severe. They can also cause bad psych and depression problems. For some, pulsing these drugs will enable them to withstand these psych die-offs or side-effects.
Too long of a period of depression or bad psych sx can be very hard, so only a few days a week or however can be much easier - that way the brain can reboot itself and remember that life is not thattt horrible.
These are just the takes on it that I have heard.

I guess to answer my own question, going off of tini for a week and letting the keets come out would allow the spiro drugs like doxy or Bicillin to work more effectively, rather than having Bb become totally resistant to it.
That's the only thing I can think of.

Interesting theories re pulsing....toxic buildup and psych episodes vs antibiotic resistence. I hope it's really to address toxic buildup since my other antibiotics (bicillin and rifampin) are not changing in the near future.
Do any of you take the "full" dose of tindamax, 500 mg 3xday? That's what I've been told to do, and given no info on pulsing.

I only take 250mg twice a day. I'm 110 lbs.
I couldn't imagine 500mg 3 times a day. you'd have to peel me off the floor.
I'd be sure and call just to make sure it was the right dose.

please start slow on tindi as it can really make you herx and it will take awhile to clear after the pusle...dont be stupid start slow..nothing to play with..

...I took two GRAMS a day of the stuff for six months. It's a wonder I'm here...not a herx either...the stuff is just flat out toxic at that dose.
others did it at the same time too...Maddog, Labrat, and Lance in PA for three. This was per Martin Atkinson Barr's writings.
I'm OK though and I bet I killed the cysts, but wow what a price,,,the neuropathy and depressed dark moods would put many in the ER.
don't anybody else try that dosage please.

With zith I took tinidazole 500mg 1 1/2 tablets twice a day for 14 days, stopped them both for a week, then repeat.
I did one two-week round of this and was supposed to do another two weeks but had a bad reaction (serious abdominal pain)and had to cut it short at the first week.
While on Rocephin, I'm supposed to take the same tinidazole dose for 14 days, but the Rocephin is pulsed 3-4 days a week on/four or three days off depending on how long I can keep a peripheral line open. With a PICC it's Rocephin five days on, two off, the tini. is the same.
Both tinidazole and metronidizole burn my stomach. I don't notice any serious herx, but I do get a little depression as the days go on. (Maybe because food tastes so bad on these two drugs. I hate them.)
Oh--I think my doctor pulses them to give the liver a chance to recover--they can cause elevated liver enzymes and damage if used for long periods of time.
