I feel like they aren't working. Like I need to stop and try something else.

I herxed on the first abx (biaxin), and then slowly began to feel better. But that first 3 months, then I just began to feel awful and so incredibly fatigued.

I don't mind feeling bad if they are actually helping, but I don't feel like they are.

Anyone btdt? What next?

Were you using the medication alone? If not add Plaquenil 200mg x 2 (Assuming you weigh ate least 125lbs) It would also be useful to add Tetracycline 750 mg for the first week, then increase the dose by 750mg again the second week. Total should be 1,500mg perday or 750mg x 2 to the routine if fatigue and muscle problems are the primary symptoms.

So if ABX are not working, I should add more ABX? No way. I can't handle overloading on abx. I just don't believe its a good thing for me.
There has got to be another way.

You are probably not get rid of toxins fast enough. Toxins cause the majority of our symptoms and killing will increase our toxin load.

Some of us are not very good at getting rid of the toxins created by borrelia. Look into HLA testing and the Shoemaker protocol.

Have you been tested and or treated for co-infections? They are key in getting sustained improvement.

Make sure you aren't being exposed to molds. This can make progress slow to non-existant for some lyme patients.

Make sure you have something on board to remove heavy metals. When the bugs die, they release heavy metals. Symptoms overlap with lyme.

Look for other posts on lymenet like yours by doing a search. Lots and lots of suggestions in many posts on lymenet.

Viruses can be an issue.

This is a complex illness with lots of issues. Please research to learn more about all of the complications that can occur and work your way through them.

Not fun and not fast but very necessary.

Terry,

Do you have any good products to suggest for these other issues?

Unfortunately when you use Biaxen alone, it's going to cause what's happened to you -- in most patients. The antibiotic worked temporarily, it did not get proper penetration. By adding what I've listed, it will recharge the Biaxen, give it far more strength, and the combination with the other antibiotic would magnify that potent killing power.

The solution is to add a combination and change the dynamic. The Plaquenil allows the Biaxen to penetrate cell organelles more easily, and it helps reduce inflammation. It's also "suggested" to have other effects which are positive for Lyme patients.

If you don't want to go this direction, natural routes, including all the issues Terry spoke about will be necessary, but I'd do a lot more research because saying no to all antibiotics may not serve you. I'd keep open to it, even if you choose to stop for now.

I must insist also, I have never seen a patient get well without some type of antimicrobial, whether herbal, or antibiotic in combinations. Obviously each patient is different but the common thread has always been something antibacterial or microbial that has attacked and killed the infection. There are ancedotal reports of herbal, rife, light therapies potentially causing remissions, but I just don't have any facts on those.
