My first round of blood work i wa told i had 5 positive bands on western blot think they are (18,30,39,41,58,).

Had test redone same lab, 2nd time doc told me same 5 bands were positive but much more fainter ?

Said they are gonna relook at both blood samples again ?

what does this all mean ? Could there be a mistake ?

Doctor is ready to do treatment with the IV thing ?

any toughts would be great.

i'm unsure too ... fainter.

have you copies and read LYMETOO'S post at top of medical ... DR. C'S EXPLAINATION OF WESTERN BLOT; i bet you will find info there!!

Glad you found us and sorry you may have lyme. If I were you I'd get the treatment!!

Has your doctor (I hope he/she is a lyme literate doctor) tested for coinfections?? If not you should.

What are your symptoms? Did you have a rash? How long do you think you had lyme?

Is that the IgG part of the Western Blot?

How do they tell if the bands are "fainter"?

I had a Quest WB done and all it says is reactive or non-reactive.

Are you seeing a Lyme Literate Medical Doctor?

You do have Lyme specific bands.

Are you symptomatic?

Remember, Lyme is a clinical diagnosis.

The blood work only supports that diagnosis.

The blood work may be required also by some health insurances

To pay for IV meds.

5 positive bands= CDC positive lyme test.

Or you have Lyme disease.

You could also as noted above also have co-infections which are other parasitic infections you can get from the same tick bite.

babesia
bartonolla
etc search this site or the interent for lyme disease co-infections.... very common in 30% plus of lyme cases.

IV is ok- the key to getting better is early Dx and long enough treatment.

Please read up or get help from someone who can help you learn. This is not an easy disease and dont take it as such.
