Today is my second day on Minocycline, and today I woke up with this "feeling" that is familiar to me, because I had it on Doxycycline as well.

It is this really intense drowsiness....where you feel like you want to just "nod off" at any moment. And also you feel like you could stare off into space, without your eyes focusing, for an hour.

I basically feel like I'm staring off into space at nothing, just completely zoned out, all the time on this.

Wondering if anyone else has experienced this as a side effect of Minocycline? Or Doxycycline?

I was on Doxycycline in the past for a VERY long period of time, and this side effect didn't get better at ALL. So I am already looking into alternatives to this Minocycline.

I am taking the drug with Rifampin for Bartonella, but I was also hoping it would have an effect on possible mycoplasma fermentans.

I know what I described could be a reaction to almost any drug, or just Lyme/Bart itself, but has anyone else experienced these effects as a direct result of Minocyline, Doxycycline, etc? Did you stop? Did you just tough it out?

Doxy never helped me in the past, so I'm thinking maybe I shouldn't tough it out on Mino....

So many people have had good results on this class of medications, where they actually started feeling better, but this feels like a fog that won't lift , no matter how long I wait [Frown]

Hoosier,

I know exactly what your talking about. I remember when I was still in school. I started taking doxy right after testing positive on the ELISA for lyme. I was usually clowning around all the time in class. When I started the doxy I felt so mellow, drained, and fatigued. I was in slow motion all the time. I would sleep constantly. I do this when I herx.

hoosier,

My husband has also gotten tired, dizzy as well on tetracycline. Prior to dx, he slept a lot, then on Rifampin, he seemed to perk up a bit. Now on tetra, he's back to being a sleeper.

I'm hoping that it will eventually pass, it seems like most of our married life has been me watching him sleep!

Hope it passes for you too.
