I've heard it's tacky to talk about money, but is it taboo here? I don't want to get in trouble.
I was looking through the archives and couldn't find an answer to my questions, so sorry if this is a repeat.
Would any of you mind sharing how much your tab for prescriptions/ Dr. visits runs? With insurance or without? I know it's going to be overwhelming, but my family is dirt-poor and I'd rather prepare them for the possibilities than have them die of shock.

CollegeGirl, have you been diagnosed with Lyme? And do you have a doctor yet?
Cost could very greatly depending on whether you have insurance or not and if your doctor accepts insurance or not.
If you have insurance and your doctor accepts it then you would only have to pay your copay (example $20 or $50).
Some doctors don't accept insurance. They all seem to have different charges. Usually the initial visit is the most expensive (like a couple hundred dollars).
With insurance copays on drugs will vary. Certain generic antibiotics are really cheap while name brands can be very expensive. Oral antibiotics are cheaper than IV.
So, basically cost will depend on the doctor you choose, your diagnosis, insurance, and the meds prescribed. Talk with your doctor about your financial concerns. They might be able to work with you.
Also, you might qualify for prescription assistance programs. There is info about that I think in the Newbie links or Betty's info. Sorry I don't know exactly.
