I have IC and I thought that was the problem.....well, now I think it's an infection.
It's too late to go to the Urgent Care and I have no unexpired antibiotics.
AAARRRRGGGHHHHH!!!
I found some pyridine [like AZO] and I took an Ultram ER. Waiting for relief and whining HERE!!!! Posted by charlie (Member # 25) on :
Do you have any bactrim left?...I've taken that years expired and it works fine...rather specific for that type of infection also....

Ugh, that sucks. Also a major Lyme symptom.
Do you have someone you can call who can go to the drugstore and get you the urinary analgesic they now sell over the counter?
How about cranberry juice? It helps, though it takes a lot of it in my case when it's a bad case of UTI.

I have that .. just took it 30min ago. I think it and the Ultram is beginningn to work a LITTLE. I totally forgot I had either!
DUH!!!
Cranberry is not good if it's the IC kicking up.

Keflex.....does that work for bladder infections???
Posted by TerryK (Member # 8552) on :
Keflex is broad spectrum abx. Looks like it is probably effective but I suppose it depends on the bacterial strain.
http://www.pdrhealth.com/drugs/rx/rx-mono.aspx?contentFileName=Kef1213.html&contentName=Keflex&contentId=287 Keflex and Keftab are cephalosporin antibiotics. They are prescribed for bacterial infections of the respiratory tract, the middle ear, the bones, the skin, and the reproductive and urinary systems. Because they are effective for only certain types of bacterial infections, before beginning treatment your doctor may perform tests to identify the organisms causing the infection.

Well, I just took one. I hope it won't skew results when I go to Urgent Care tomorrow.
I have to go to the hospital outpatient anyway tomorrow for bloodwork....then I can go to the Urgent Care in the same bldg.
Too hard to get in to my GP quickly.

Oh Tutu!
I had about a 1 1/2 year stretch of constant UTI's -- they are awful.
Have you tried adding unsweetened Cranberry juice to water and drinking tons of it? Sometime Crangel capsules or Cranberry tea would help too.
I took sitz baths and sometimes tried cold compresses on the offending part...
My curse of the UTI came from two things: yeast and an allergy to latex in my diaphragm!
My thoughts are with you with wishes for quick analysis of the bacteria and a fast remedy.

Ketek will work lymetoo if it is lyme flaring..not sure if it works on ecoli or not though.
Azo has helped me a lot when my IC was horrific...so keep that in mind.
I hope the dr tomorrow will give you bactrim or something similar.
Just hang in there the best that you can.
Also, how has your diet been last few days....any foods could have irritated the IC possibly?

Thanks, sweetie! Posted by Lymetoo (Member # 743) on :
Well, surprise, surprise!!!! It was a bladder infection!! Shock-er-oo!!!
Taking Bactrim and pyridium. Had 3 hrs of sleep last night. Going back to bed NOW! Posted by Tincup (Member # 5829) on :
Hey tutu...
Just a note that might help. Hope so!
And I am glad to know you got some help for now. Sleep well dear one.
When you awaken.. and don't read this till you do....
Nature's Sunshine makes a product called Cranberry and Buchu.
It is a capsule and easy to take. No sugar or nasty cranberry bitterness to deal with. Just drink lots of water when taking it.
To note- I have also had major bladder and IC problems.. and when using this product it actually stops the bladder infection by itself... without using antibiotics.
These days....
If I start feeling problems I jump back on it.. and it always works for me. You can find it sold on the net... and a few health food stores MAY carry it IF they handle Nature's Sunshine products.
DO NOT use a substitute. I've tried them all and this is the only one that works .. and it has worked for others I've suggested it to.
Another thought... I know... I said ONE thought.. but today you get the bonus of TWO suggestions. HA!
I often- most of the time- can't tell I have yeast bothering me "there", in that "special" area.
The way I know it is now, is that sometimes my bladder acts up.
Treating yeast "there" may help the situation too... and may discourage bladder problems. Works for me.
KNOCK ON WOOD.. since I've made the connection between the bladder acting up and the yeast...
If I treat the yeast... the bladder clears up.
Dr. B suggests (guidelines) using two 7-day Monistat treatments (total of 14 days).... however...
I've had a prescription for .. let me go look up the spelling to send you on the right road....
Terconazole Vaginal Cream- 7 day regimen 0.4%
This is amazing stuff.. much better than the OTC stuff... and if you have insurance.. they MAY pay?
Hope you feel better soon...
And Goll-EEEEEEE... I hope you soon are pain free!

Lady, you've got some mean bacteria running around your body playing havoc lately. If someone could help us identify specifically. On our own as usual!!!
I think the lyme & company is so confusing. You might want to try some staph & strep freqs.
