Here read this http://www.calnhs.org/homehealth/index.cfm?itemID=106961§ionID=106335

It looks like they pay for most everything lyme patients would need. IV's, even physical therapy in the home. My home health nurse backs up that information

hmm i dunno, I thought medicare was a federal program so it shouldn't matter. But maybe there is something to that.

medicare will pay for the homehealth nurse, therapist etc. under medicare coverage, this is billed as skilled care under medicare itself and they pay the agency for services recieved, like when you are in the hospital (well billing is little diffent but is a comparision).

the medications however are dependant on type of medication prescription coverage that person has.

medicare itself does not cover meds or IV equip in the home setting. Medicaid has limited coverage in tx. as well. (will not pay for IV pole..have had to rig nail to wall for pt. in their home to hang IV bag..ridiculous)

will have to check with your rx coverage to find out your policy details in IV coverage.

home health would be easier than outpt. tx as long as you qualify under medicare regs: 1) are homebound as per medicare definition 2) MD to sign orders 3) compliant with plan of care including safety at home and for the staff that sees you

also, medicare will not pay for homehealth if are in the hosp. the same day or if you see MD signing home health orders unless agency albe to prove a skill hosp. or MD was not able to provide to you (easier to do with MD visits on IV case)..they do not want to pay two seperate entities for same day of service..double pay in their eyes

best wishes
