Just went to see Dr R in NY. I had a great visit with him and he was very helpful. He has made a treatment plan for me that includes Mepron. My insurance company covered the first prescription, but since it's an HMO I am concerned that they will not cover future prescriptions. Has anyone had any experience with this? If so, when did your insurance company cut you off? If insurance doesnt cover this where is a good and cheaper place to buy it? Any imput would be much appreciated!

If you find a cheaper place to buy it, I'd like to know too.

If you don't have insurance and are low income you can get it for almost free from Bridges to Access. I think it all depends on ones situation.

I have not had a problem with insurance covering month after month and I get prescribed 600ml a month. I only end up paying a total of 35 dollars for the full month.. I would call them and find out how they handle it.. I hope they continue to support you..

Debaz, what insurance company do you have?

I have to pay over $1200 for 2 bottles (420ml) WITH my insurance.

The first two bottles were $10 from Bridges to Access any refills are free for I think one year. The mepron is the only drug I've been able to get fairly easily without any insurance. My LLMD had me fill out forms for two drug companies the other one (Abbott) I was denied... Everything else I pay out of pocket.

I have Blue Cross Blue Shield ..
It is the 35 co pay for mepron any amount per month and then I am on Ketek and it is 65 dollars though.. I am sure that seems backwards .. I wish i could make sense of insuarance.
I also have medicare but no prescription plan and I use BCBS for all my scripts and ironically my doc does not take medicare so i do not use medicare much except for some tests and for my pain managerment doc and as well ... anything medicare denies BCBS will pick up 100 percent.. Costs me buit it works and I Plan on getting well and I know I will not get insurance if i do not keep holding onto the Blue Cross Blue Shield...>
