Hi all; been on abx for 6 weeks and during that time something really wierd is happening. Sometimes I cannot close my mouth - my jaw just will not shut. Sometimes the jaw kind of shifts to the left and so I look 'lop sided'. It happens several times a week and can last for hours to a whole day or more. No pain but the salivary glands behind and below my ears feel hot & strange. Does anyone else get this? I looked at the symptoms for TMJ and what I have does not seem to fit. having lyme has turned me into a hypochondriac so any input appreciated. Liz D

Not exactly the same, however, I did have an instance over the past several years where I just could not open my mouth. They never did figure that one out. Send me away and told me to eat from straws for a few days. Magically it cleared up and hasnt happened again.
I imagine any kind of inflamation can be part of lyme.

Yes. I had terrible inflammation in my jaw and every morning when I awoke, my mouth would be lopsided and I couldn't open or shut it properly.
I was different from you in that it hurt very much. At first I went to the chiropractor each time to get it realigned but at $35 a pop, I quickly learned how to push it back in line myself.
This problem stayed with me from 8/05 until April 06 when I had a biological dentist remove my 3 remaining amalgams. He could barely open my mouth wide enough to do the work. Two weeks later, jaw pain was gone and has never returned.
Mercury must have been causing the issue. At the same time, I went to a doctor who would give me a Vit C IV after the fillings were removed. This doctor became my doctor for the next year and he saved my life, literally.
It could be that some of the detoxifying things Dr A did also eliminated the inflammation in my jaw, but I believe it was getting the mercury out.

A symptom of parasites is drooling. So if your salivary glands are involved I would consider this a strong possibility.
I have had jaw involvement since I got infected and it is just starting to calm down since treating for parasites.
Of course other infections could be in the jaw as well.
MICROFILARAIAL WORMS can cause lymphatic infection and was found in the ticks by Willy Burgdorfer.

could possibly be mumps if bilateral parotid gland swelling you may have a superinfection of mumps. any superinfection , mumps is viral, can be initiated by the onset of long term abx. may need an eval for parotid glands, rec oral surgeon. antivirals may be necessary

I had a lot of locking and clicking of my jaw that was caused by TMJ. This began back in the late 70's. It has improved, but isn't gone.
