This is one of the most frustrating aspects of Lyme disease (and possible co-infections) for me. How do you know when you are herxing vs. getting worse??
I am reading Dr. Singletons's book and it says a herx can last weeks. I've been feeling really crummy lately. I don't know if it's a good thing or bad thing.

Dr. C has my daughter take a break from Abx when she is herxing really badly to see if it goes away when she is off of them. That way you have an indication if it's a herx or not. He says not to kill yourself with the herxes.

I agree. How to know is to stop therapy for just about a week. I you feel better it is a Herx or from the treatment that is feeling so horrible. If you stay so horrible then you are probably now feeling what your disease is causing. it is a great way to see and feel the difference and get a stance and standing on where you are in treatment as well. It is how I tell if things are working or helping as well and where I am at different time frames. I also keep track of how I feel i feel better off meds and supplements and how that rates to the next time I stop. For me i feel so much better off so I know the meds are herxing me badly. But as well each week i take off I feel better than the last week I took off so I feel the med is working.. Hope that helps. Give it a try
