I've been taking zithromax since August and am finishing up treatment at the end of the year.

I feel better for the most part except I am still tired all the time! I am a teacher and I have to come home from school and take a 2 hour nap before I think about doing anything else (even when I get 8+ hours of sleep at night!).

If I don't nap, I'm very lethargic, but I can still function. Should I be taking abx longer or is this constant fatigue something I will have to live with forever? Could the abx making me sleepy?

Would anyone like to share their story about how the end of their treatment worked out?

Fatigue is the biggest mystery for me too...two years in. Exercise hasn't help, cortisol hasn't helped, sleep hasn't helped...it's just a grueling battle but I'm only on Bicillin LA currently and I think babs may be the culprit...

Treated for 5 months with antibiotics and the fatigue never got better. Started treating for Babs and in 2 weeks I could see an improvement in the fatigue.

Fatigue was one of my worse, debilatating symptoms. I would feel so exhausted, like I was going to collapse and die. Now I just feel tired, but not like I am going to collapse.

I believe Babs is the issue too when it comes to fatigue.

I have had this issue and I have always stuck in there on the therapy and tried to work through it. This year I finally started taking time off like one week on and one week off and when I took the week off I was amazed how well I felt. i realized that the abx was helping but i was never able to see that and the idea of staying on it and waiting for everything to clear up was not a good guage when you never stopped feeing the herx and fatigue from the meds themselves and or our bodies not able to rid as fast as they kill off. Try to take just one week off and if you feel better you know its the meds and if you continue to feel so horrible maybe you have not had enough time or the right med to erradicate enough. That is my discovery after years of this process and years of never feeling better no matter how long I stay on an ABX until I stop and check it outl

That is pretty much what my LLMD says. You can't know how you truly feel until you go off the meds, because the meds can make you feel bad themselves.

I'm taking azithromycin too and the slight ringing in the ears when it's quiet sure is a bit annoying!
