Hello folks, Are any of you taking this new med called Abilify and if you do how is it working and are there any side effects. Thank you, Lemonhead

My daughter took for a while but couldnt handle side effects, more fatigue like. she had to switch to seroquel. She could tolerate it more but had to do very low doses.
Even the abilify she couldnt get to the levels she needed. She was at the lowest levels, basically "start" levels and couldnt build on either of them.
Be careful driving etc until you know the effects on you for sure!!!!

If I was going to take an antipsychotic (like abilify), I'd want
1) An LL-psychiatrist
and
2) to have a psychosis so severe that it put me in immediate danger.
Seriously, this isn't anything to mess around with--like for, say, depression. They cause brain damage if you're on them for any length of time.

One of my son's uses Abilify to control his bipolar disorder which manifests with psychotic episodes. It has really been the best med for him, but for many has side effects, and has for him when on higher doses.
Like mentioned, it's a pretty serious psychotropic med, so I wouldn't take it lightly.

I would only take it if your symptoms are really serious and you have tried other options. What exactly do you want to take it for?
I take Lamictal...it is a mood stabalizer and it has worked out GREAT for me. It can be used in conjunction with other meds like SSRIs. It seems like it has fewer side effects than Abilify.
Look up Lamictal on www.wikipedia.org and it will tell you all about it.
Either way, good luck! Be sure you are seeing a good psychiatrist....this is one of those areas where you should only settle for the best.
