Proud Pup,

I was scanning thru old post to see if I could find answers of some things I was questioning too.

Yep, I have gained 130 lbs. I have been super skinny my entire life until Lyme. Other than that "hit by a bus feeling" one of the first things I noticed was my wet suit getting tighter and tighter. Beofre the end of summer I could not fit into it any longer.

I am now looking at lap band surgery. My ins makes you go thru 6 months of observed weight loss thru Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers or Otifast before they will approve it. I am hoping May 2009 I will be approved.

You must be looking into it too. What kind of lap band are you looking at?

Oh . . . please Wait as surgery can be very hard on anyone. And Jenny Craig is not gluten-free. Going gluten-free will drop quite a bit of swelling, really. I was amazed.

Still, if you eat healthfully, be patient. The Potbelly Syndrome will change your whole idea of how to look at this.

This can be part of the infection. For those who have gained weight for no apparent reason, when infections are adequately treated, the weight comes off.

Add to that physical activity can come back to a healthy pace.

This book is specific to lyme and other chronic stealth infections. One LLMD is interviewed about this very problem.

The author discusses the endocrine connection and effects of cortisol from the stress of this illness. The Singleton book (linked below) also discusses the importance of the endocrine connection and what can help.

Just thought I'd update this for those who are curious about gastric bypass

I had the gastric bypass, not the gastric banding (lap band)

It's been 8 wks since my surgery and I've dropped 50 lbs so far
