Would it be Stress & Depression /// or the Lyme Disease itself /// or the combination of both ???
And Why ???
Please Advise...
Thank You Dearly. Eric

IMO I think it is mostly LD itself. I have never had insomnia until I became ill. No matter what I take to help me sleep nothing really works.
I am sure that stress doesn't help any either.

one of my first symptoms before I became extremely ill, or realized I was ill, was an almost immediate and total 'loss of sleep'. I had never experienced anything like it before, it was a very early symptom for me, I was not dxd & treated until almost 2 years later.
BTW, sleep is much improved since tx, but still not back to normal.

i don't know if anyone knows
but it was really dramatic the way i got rid of 30 yr old insomnia 3 days after having my amalgams and root canal removed
i'm not saying everyone needs to do that-BUT it might be that your toxic load has something to do with insomnia
the psyc people should be able to answer this tho-it's one of the brain chemicals, right?

i don't get much sleep at all, 3-4 hours a night, then one night i just crash out of exhaustion.
it started about 1 year after getting bit.
i have to have something like ambien.
i'm hoping that this samento will help.

The toxins from lyme increase the NMDA excitability stuff in the brain. (Magnesium really helps bring that down).
The illness wacks out the adrenals and the liver.
So many reasons.
For a better explanation - and what helps:
This book, by an ILADS member LLMD, holds great information about treatments options and support measures:
is everybody being careful about the cell phone thing? wasn't there a report that holding it close to your haed caused insomnia?

I had the waking up many times per night thing, and my LLMD put me on PS-100, and it helped greatly. Then we discovered I was allergic to soy, and try finding that product w/o soy...good luck.
Had to stop using it, and the sleep problems are back. But we have an infant to take care of so taking a regular sleeping pill is out of the question, so I suffer poor sleep at times.
