I have long term lyme, and have been on antibiotics for about 3 years, I just added in Diflucan(Fluconazole) to my Mepron and Azithromycin and am VERY worried about drug

interactions. I have been on Diflucan ALONE while OFF antibiotics, and was fine with it, I did however use it with Flagyl and Azithromycin and I think it made me heart race, or it may have

been St Johns Wort, I stopped it anyways.

Now, here I am, I just did a month of Nystatin, and now am to do Diflucan for 2 months. I just took 100mgs today, about 4 hours ago and had the flutter racing thing in the heart and then it stopped after 10 secs or so.

I have never had this while on the Mepron and Azithromycin which I have been on for 6 months.

I am not being hysterical, I have just had interactions before and worry because of this mixture.

I am wondering to you all, if Diflucan is really necessary, because Fungus or Yeast can be from a low immune from Lyme/Babesia, and possibly I dont need the Diflucan?

I have no problem going on the Diflucan alone but not with this Mepron and Azithromycin.

Nystatin is good, but it is not Systemic. I see that sometimes too many drugs are prescribed and do we REALLY need the Diflucan?

Any comments from others please let me know, and did Diflucan, or the generic of it, which is Fluconazole which I am on REALLY make that much of a difference to any of you?

I have to pay big bucks for the call to the LLMD so am asking first on here. I am soooo uptight from this heart racing tonight, it is gone but

I am still scared.

ALSO, I dont have any heart problems that I know of, I did have a heart ultra sound but heart was ok they said.

thanks,

Trish

Hi Trish,
I am on the generic or Diflucan now. I started in October and stayed on until mid-Nov. Then I thought it was causing me to be nauseous so I stopped.

But I slowly declined in how I felt and started it up again a couple of days ago. I think I need it.

I am also on Flagyl and Bactrim. The nausea seems to come and go. Leading me to think it is from the Lyme coming out.

Anyone else on this?

Diflucan hits the yeast AND the Lyme so it's kind of a one-two punch. I think you're definitely herxing but it's always so hard to differentiate btwn herxing and adverse effects.

I know that everytime I take Diflucan, I get very depressed but my Lyme/Bart has been mostly psyhciatric symptoms so that makes sense.

I don't think it's MANDATORY during treatment but definitely AFTER treatment.

Nystatin, theralac, Florastor, Primal Defense and a bunch of other probiotics that others could recommend (along with the anti-candida diet) should keep you stablized during treatment.

Hope that helps!
