I have a friend that has lyme and is planning on getting pregnant. Her lyme doc. has mentioned different abx for treatment, but there seem to be differing opinions on dosage/combo's! Anyone else had this situation and what combo and dose of abx was used successfully? Is bicillan for 9 months feasible or just plain painful? Thanks!

I have heard of different combos that have been successful:

amoxicillin
bicillin
zithromax
zithromax/ceftin
zithromax/omnicef

I have talked to many of the women over on the yahoo lyme and pregnancy group- you should recommend that she join that group.

dr. jones seems to be recommending zith/ceftin or zith/omnicef at this time.

I know she cant take zithro....is that a problem or a must have? is bicillan enough alone?

Thanks for the info maureen. I would like to become pregnant within the next few years if possible, but I am already doing research, etc...

maybe I will join that yahoo group.
