Anyone here , anywhere in the world been treated with chlorenphenicol for lyme?

It is a common catch all drug used in the developing world (that works pretty well). Phased out here though.

Has major side effect of anemia that can be deadly (even if the medication is stopped). Use is limited to blood cultures showing that it is the only medication that the bacteria being treated is susceptible to.

Understood,
I had a talk with a MD from india at a conference. Despite its possible adverse effects, it is still used quite a lot for both parasitic and bacteria infections in india (even though they also have access to all of the drugs we have here). It apparently gets used becuase it is so effective compared to the other drugs.

Wanted to find out here if anyone has used it for Lyme, relapsing fever or babesia. I am not expecting anyone in north america or europe will answer yes on this one but there may be others from other parts of the world.

you will not get it prescribed in us unless you are dieing.

it was a very popular drug in the 70's with hugh success but the side effects are worse.
it is a phenol based product and will also cause cancer.
that is also why they took phisohex, the soap used \in hospitals in the 70's off the market.
i think it is still available but without the phenol
in it.

if you are dieing, it would be the drug of last resort.
