I have heard some believe and also a small study has indicated that adding Bactrim to Mepron and Zithromax prevents babesia relapse.
I am wondering if that is the actual experience of people on this site.
Did anyone add Bactrim to ANY babesia protocol, but still have a babesia relapse? (so therefore I shouldn't waste my time)
Or, is there anyone who added Bactrim and did NOT relapse?
Either way, I may look into Bactrim and Biaxin for my babesia, but if people relapsed, maybe I would be better off trying Lariam first. (I have already done Mepron as well as Malarone.....good chance it still needs treatment)
Thank you!

I feel that Bactrim is a good thing added to my Mepron, Zith, Artemisinin and Omnicef.
That's all, i just think i have fewer symptoms with the Bactrim added. I wouldn't want to skip it, future relapses or not.

Yes I did bactrim/minocin/biaxin/rifampin/ And Mepron. Not all at once I did combo of mepron,rifampin,bactrim/mepron. Then mepron/biaxin/rifampin Then mepron/biaxin/bactrim/ Then mepron/biaxin/minocin. Then just minocin/rifampin. Then the last 2months before stopping all i did minocin in combo with others.

Tree,
Which of those drugs do you think helped you the most?
Do you think the Bactrim was important, or sort of a back seat thing that is not crucial?

This is an interesting thread. Is Bactrim the deal breaker?

I have relapsed after 4 years of feeling great. Original diag. was lyme, babs and bart. Two months ago "re-diag" with Lyme and Babs. So far the lyme literate doctor gave me bactrim. I had a few days of bad herx (I've been on it 2 weeks so far). The rest of the time I's like a low grade flue. Coughing, tho is consistent and debilitating. God Bless Theresa
