i'm just wondering about surgery and the affect that lyme has on it.
my back is absolutely killing me. the tingling and numbness is spreading over my entire upper back. i've got an appt on tuesday. but i'm really scared.
i'm not saying i need surgery but i'm wondering what a major injury does to lyme. does it cause it to get much worse and what are the symptoms that do get worse?
did your surgery just drive you over the deep end? what if they want to give you steriods? can they give them to you without your consent?
how did you recuperate? did it take longer?
lots of questions and no answers except for ya'll.

It's taken some out of remission, and made other, who were already sick, worse.
I'd stay away from the steroids, if I were you.

well my dear randibear i have had 7 major surgeries during lyme and during remission. the last two knee replacements 5 months ago, both knees and still in remission.
i had them give me claforan iv prior to, during and after surgery.no problems. claforan replaces rocephin without the gall bladder effects.
My LLMD told me that anethesia lowers your immunity, so unless you take antibiotics right after your surgery, you can relapse.
If you say "no steriods" they can't give them to you without your permission.

I have not had surgery but about 3 Epideral procedures on my back with steroids and it helped me feel better and have less pain and as well less symptoms.. go figure?
