I was just wondering how common it is to treat both lyme and babs at the same time

Based on my readings,

Flagly, Biaxin and Mepron

Has this worked for folks ?
Is it too much in terms of the body to handle
Anybody have success with this combo
Anything else work

Any comments would be appreciated

Thanks
Tony

Hi Tony-

I know that many LLMDs swear by aggressive approaches so this doesn't seem too unusual.

Flagyl and Mep can hit the liver pretty hard so you may want a liver blood work every few weeks to make sure everything is copacetic.

I wish that I had a more aggressive doc. I've been screwing around with average regimens for two years now.

I do better with a more conservative approach, since my body doesn't handle too many meds all at one time. My LLMD so far has treated Lyme and Babesia separatly. Who knows what really works best. It seems to me that being treated aggressively or conservatively still takes about the same amount of time to recover.

Mepron/Biaxin or Mepron/azithromycin therapy also covers some Lyme while hitting babesia- since Biaxin is a lyme drug.

I'm on azithromycin, tinidazole, mepron, doxy, topical Flagyl, and numerous medicinal herbs, fwiw. If you're bacterial load is high, you might have to work your way up, but this plus increasing the doses recently has really helped me a lot.

psano I have read and my LLMD confirmed that doxy & mepron should not be taken together. Doxy reduces effectiveness of mepron by 40%.

Yeah, I had a doc try to put me on Mepron with Doxy. That was when I dropped him.

OMG, that combination would kill a lot of us. Your LLMD must not like the slow route. lol. Bring out the rocket launchers!!

Tony,

My doctor started me on a new regimen which targets babs, bart and Lyme. I take Mepron, Biaxin and Plaquenil, and I have to add Bactrim to this.

I like to think that addressing all these bugs at once will speed my recovery.

Still too soon to tell if it's doing wonders for me, but some symptoms have quickly disappeared.

Tonyp,

I am on exactly the same meds.

I am only supposed to take 750 mg of Flagyl three days a week. But that really kicks my but.

It's funny, I can work all week most of the time, but come the weekend when I take the Flagyl, I feel like hell.

My doc says any amount of Flagyl is helping so currently I am bouncing between 250-500 mg on the weekends depending on what I can handle.

I've been on this for about 5 months. Overall, I feel better but I still have some significant neuro issues.

Good luck

B
