I guess we all go through this thought, but how do we know the effectivenes of our treatments.
Do we take ABX's until symptom free?
Do we take ABX's for extended duration, stop to detoxify and then evaluate symptoms?
After all long term treatments have adverse affects on our bodily functions. I think that is why conventional doctors are afraid or won't consider late stage lyme or chronic lyme. Rather term it as "post lyme" syndrome.
I had to take a long break from treatment due to adverse liver fuction, but need to continue treatment as I am very symptomatic.
Lastly do we treat until our Lyme antibody titers decline?

since tests do not make a diagnosis antibody tieters going down mean nothing....I just discussed this with my doctor. Treat until symptoms resolve.
Are you on any liver support supplements? Milk thistle or NAC?
They are also helpful when on abx...

Some people believe you treat until you are symptom free. According to my LLMD you have to pause treatment from time to time because medications themselves can make you feel bad. So the only way to know exactly what your symptoms are is to take a long enough break to get them out of your system; then you can access how you truly feel.
I have been on meds for 7 months straight and am now taking a 1 month break. So we will see how this goes. I am not symptom free even though I have improved some.
I am sure many people here will say you have to stay on meds until you have been symptom free for 2 months. That seems to be a popular method. Not sure yet what I think yet.
