Just a big curious about this and the percentage of this group that has CDC positive criteria .. and were reported to the CDC as a case.

Nope, not CDC reportable here. I was considered + by Igenex, but not CDC.
What I don't get, I also tested + for Babesia, Ehrlichia and Bartonella (not to mention mycoplasma more recently). So even if my Lyme WB was not + per CDC...how do "they" explain all of the + coinfections? Is this not of importance or significant enough to be reported?

I was CDC positive, but don't think I was ever reported officially.
From what I hear, even if your doctor reports you to the county, when it gets to the state health department in OK, they discount (almost) every case as a false positive.
This has been going on about as long as we have had a certain health commissioner (about 8 years or so). Before 2001, there were 290 cases reported and after 2001 there were only 4 reported. He recently resigned and I can only hope we get someone who doesn't publish papers on how lyme disease is "rare" and "over-reported" in our state.
Sorry for the soapbox, but it is pretty humorous how I could have so many positive bands and NO doctor in my state would even consider treating me.

I'm not CDC positive but I'm IgeneX IgM and IgG positive.
Did you know that you can have a CDC positive without having any bands that are specific to borrelia?
I have so many bands that are specific to borrelia that I have no doubt what-so-ever that I have lyme disease.

CDC Positive here. But woop-de-doo. Doesn't mean do-do. The criteria is skewed because of the Dearborn thing and shody-shify ISDA.

I made SURE we got reported (daughter and I both) to the CDC; same thing for babesia (duncani). Babesia is a reportable disease in California, a minor fact regarding which everyone appears blissfully unaware. Our Health Department called simply dumbstruck that these things could be so. My tests results are a little different from the ones I see people posting on here. It was done thru Quest Diagnostics
41 KD (IGG) Band REACTIVE B. Burgdorferi AB POSITIVE 23 KD (IGM) Band REACTIVE 41 KD (IGG) Band REACTIVE
(all the other bands show non-reactive)
Is this cdc positive?
I live in NC (although I don't think I was infected in NC). Should I make sure this is reported? Can I do it, or must a dr do it?

Yes; first time tested was CDC positive. No question about it. Yes; my case was reported. I'm in an endemic area, so it was no surprise to Dr's or myself.

well, not to complicate things too much but my IgM western blot was 'CDC positive' but I wouldn't be considered CDC positive by the CDC or IDSA since I didn't have a positive ELISA and lacked a sufficient IgG response (given that I was sick for 18 months prior to test results).
So, just because we have enough bands show up doesn't necessarily mean we are considered truly positive. UGH......

I have tested postive 3 times through igenex according to the cdc standards (at least 5 bands positive). I have also had lyme for 10+yrs that went undiagnoised.
So if you think you have it and if you're clinically symptomatic and if your doctor thinks you have it...well then you probably do.
The testing is NOT accurate. Over 200,000 cases per year are missed according to the CDC and they have no idea how many people are actually infected with this disease.
Better to be safe then sorry!

I was CDC-positive on both IgG and IgM from IGeneX. My dad was CDC-positive on both too, after an antibiotic challenge. (He'd been one band short prior to the challenge.)
Incidentally, both of us showed next to nothing on common Western Blots from Quest and LabCorp. And I showed next to no bands on MDL and Stonybrook tests too.
My tick bites were from Minnesota and Wisconsin. My dad's could be from both states too, but most likely from Minnesota.

Diagnosed '97.
Was negative initially. Slowly, through the years of trx, became more and more positive. As of last test in '05 -- CDC positive on IGENEX WB. Ten bands IgG; five plus bands IgM. Many +++
