Well, after getting back from a lovely vacation in Hawaii, I was excited to find my CD-57 results in the mail. However, it appears to be in a different format than before.

This is what the first two tings say:

% CD8-/CD57+ Lymphs 1

Abs. CD8-CD57+ Lymphs 27

The second would be my CD57 result, right?

If it is, then my CD57 has gone from 60 to 27 in about a month.

This raises my other questions:

Does the CD57 measure active infection only, or does it also account for the dead bugs in my system.

If it accounts for the dead bugs as well, then would it concievably go down a week after ending abx?

I am going to discuss this with my doctor, but it isn't for a while....

I'm sorry to ask so many questions, but my memory is failing me yet again.

Thanks,

Draba

The CD57 doesn't necessarily test for the level of infection, but the level of or how badly a part of your immune system is being suppressed (by the infection; so I suppose it indirectly tests for level of infection). If you have a low range, then lyme is active... and supposedly people with lyme with a high range have a co-infection that is most prominent.

Here's some information: http://www.healthcentersofamerica.com/information.cfm?id=144

PS - I've gone down like that before as well. I started at 20 and went down to 9 and have been at 9 for half a year. I need to have my CD57 retested to see where it's at now. Though I think I'd be afraid to see the results... [bonk]

Thanks.

I was at a 24 when I started treatment about 3 years ago. I went up to a 50 in about 6 months, during which I mostly treated my co-infections. A month ago, I had gone up to a 60, and now I'm down to 27. I guess that explains my extreme fatigue in Hawaii (going up a flight of stairs was about as much physical activity as I could manage.)
