This past Friday I had a sharp jabbing pain on

my left side. It felt like a muscle tear, I

couldn't move, but I could breathe w/o pain. I

thought it must be Lyme in the Pelvic region.

Then I thought does Lyme affect ovaries/female

parts? Last night I was laying in bed and it

started and stopped. Today, I got the same

thing, but it wasn't as bad. My husband says its

gas, but I don't think so. He's so helpful LOL!

The location mirrors my appendix. Maybe there is

a correlation of pain to the time I eat and am

digesting?

Any ideas?

I occasionally get abdominal pains that I really can't specify a cause for.

Sometimes they're up around where my gall bladder would be if I still had it, and the pain mimics a gall bladder attack. Other times they're in the center of my stomach, and still other times they're in the pelvic region.

Describing the pain is difficult. Yes, sometimes it does feel like gas, but passing gas doesn't relieve the pain. Neither do bowel movements (sorry for teh TMI).

Sometimes it feels like my monthly visitor coming on. Sometimes it feels like my ovaries are swollen or something, or even like my ovaries tore loose and are banging around inside.

I have yet to get an actual diagnosis, but I'm definitely going to bring up the abdominal/pelvic pain, especially since the gastroenterologist couldn't find anything, and to this point neither has my ob/gyn.

Hang in there! [hi]

Pelvic pain is a sypmtom of Lyme but what you are describing could be an ovarian cyst.

I was in the ER one October and scheduled for an appendectomy for what was eventually found to be a rupturing ovarian cyst. It was very painful. I have had this several times and the pain levels vary.

It typically resolves on it's own if this is what is causing your discomfort. Some women just tend to get these.

I agree with mojo. I get pain sometimes on the right and sometimes on the left. I can tell it is my ovaries. It is not fun, that is for sure.

Thanks for the replies. I thought of the cyst

thing also. Since I've posted, pain has started

on the other side as well. Hopefully it doesn't

get worse -I LOVE the ER!!

Thanks Again

Please let us know how you are doing.

I have got this pain on both sides for years, even before Lyme and I do not have cysts. I really have no clue what it is.

Some women have pain when they are ovulating. It can also only happen on one side but not the other.

Ovulation should only cause slight discomfort. If it hurts worse than an occasional twinge or soreness, you should look ruptured ovarian cysts, endometriosis, and Pelvic Inflammatory Disease/STDs.

So sorry you are having pain. This has been a huge issue for me, over the years. (in fact, it is partly the reason for my name "cactus"!)

We had a little group going a few years ago - the abdominal pain buddies (pelvic pain was included) or APB - if you search for those threads, you will find lots of info about the various tests all of our different docs ordered, with updates on results.

Maybe it will give you some ideas to investigate.'

For me, the pelvic pain has subsided for the first time in years and years.

Not sure if it's because adequate TBD treatment has helped to level out hormones, etc - and thus less ruptured ovarian cysts and endometriosis issues - or... ?

Treating bartonella was a huge step in getting to the bottom of it.

Also - bacterial dysbiosis was another issue that I believe factored in to the lower abdominal/pelvic pain.

Wishing you less pain, and quick answers!

The doctor today confirmed it was an ovarian cyst. He said if this was my first one then I'm very lucky.
