Well, I grow hundreds of hot pepper varieties each year, use them in many dishes, etc. I should have no health issues. [Smile]

Thanks for posting this info. I didn't know all the benefits of using it.

I use cayenne capsules to help raise low body temps, which helps prevent Raynauds attacks for me, esp in the winter months.

I didn't use it all the time, just when I felt like I was freezing for several days in a row.

Nothing else I did to warm up helped, but the cayenne sure does!

bump

Anyone use cayenne to help other anti-microbial herbs penetrate deeper?

I do not believe it helps. I take large amounts daily w/o any improvement whatsoever.

Do you take a good source?
I use a strong homemade tincture from an experienced herbalist and the stuff is potent.

It can "wake you up" in a matter for minutes once the tincture hits the tongue/mouth.

Can cayenne be used if your stomach and digestion (acid reflux etc) is not right? j

A woman who worked at the supplement shop told me that cayenne irritated the intestines. Anyone know whether that is true? Or is there a kind of cayenne that does not irritate?

Dr Schulze believes cayenne is HEALING to the intestines and can heal acid reflux, ulcers, etc.

In fact there's plenty of literature on this that shows it to be true.

The key is NOT taking cayenne in capsules. You want the cayenne to hit the tongue/mouth. It sends a message to the gut to start producing enzymes, acids, etc.

When you take it in capsule form it gets to the gut and "explodes" in a surprise manner on the intestines. This can send one to their knees with cramps and more.

Also go slow. I started with 1 drop in water.

Straight hot peppers and I guarantee I eat hotter food than 99.9% of people here could tolerate. I don't use capsules. I don't consider cayenne peppers to have any heat at all really.

Oddly, I developed an allergy to this in Jan of 2011. I've had two scary reactions but since treatment started a year ago if I accidentally ingest, the reaction is much milder. I still avoid though. Tough to do since I live in the South and it is on everything. Why has Lyme made me sensitive to this?

Lyme is known to trigger the development of food allergies because it causes leaky gut.

I feel like thats saying blue is the best color-- lol.

There are so many herbs with great qualities. I don't think there is a best one though.

One of the reasons that cayenne is considered one of the best herbs is because it can save someone in the middle of a heart attack from dying. I would say that would put it into a category all by itself.
