Just for my own peace of mind, I thought I read this somewhere but can't remember where.

Am I correct that these are the steps for getting off antibiotics and final recovery from lyme?

(1) Be symptom free while on abx for 1 month.
(2) Once symptoms free for a month, do 2 more months of abx without any symptoms returning.
(3) If no symptoms for that 3 month duration, stop abx and look for any symptoms returning.

If symptoms come back..back to abx therapy... if no symptoms return...recovered (or at least as much as is possible with Bb).

Does that sound right?

Two of the LLMD's I have seen follow the 2 months with an antibiotic challenge. If no symptoms return after that, then they call it a remission and antibiotics are stopped.

Two months symptom free on antibiotics, then one month off.

Then an antibiotic challenge which consists of the following:

1500mg of flagyl on day one
1500mg of biaxin on day two

If no herx, repeat weekly.

This can be repeated up to 3 months.

This is my LLMD's remission protocol.

Hugs,

Geneal
