I've been on Minocycline for about a week and OMG, do I have a headache today! I went up to the full dose a couple of days ago. Maybe I went up too fast. I went back down to 50mg. this a.m. Did anyone else get a headache from mino?
Please no horror stories about mino on this thread, ok? I'm optimistic about this drug and just want to know if others got a terrible head/neck-ache. Thanks a bunch!

Mino did cause an intial bout of neck/headache (along with dizziness/anxiety)for me, but that did eventually go away. It was then very easy to tolerate. Although I was on a combination of rx, I do believe mino was the component that helped the most. Good luck Kris

Thank you Kris! Even with the head/neckache, I have some relief of other symptoms already (knock on wood). I'm hoping Mino can be my miracle drug.

Are you drinking enough water?
And is B-6 added to your supplements? that should help.
Magnesium can also help decrease headaches.

Hi laura j - I know this sounds strange, but, someone on this site had instructions re: coffee enema to help reduce headache. Seriously. I've been on mino for years and haven't had headaches (probably because I've got no brains left), but have everything else (dizzy, etc.)
Run a search and see what you come up with. Remember, the coffee needs to be organic with no additives.

There is a rare cause of headaches from mino due to the mino causing increased intracerebral pressure. The syndrome is called pseudotumor cerebri. Just to be on the safe side, you might call your LLMD about the headaches, to get his/her opinion. Perhaps you could ramp up more slowly, as you suggest.

My 2 sons have pseudo-tumor cerebri and can't take any of the cyclines because it makes their headaches much worse.
kidsatlast - do you have PTC?

I had daily full-blown migraines for the whole 10 days I was on mino. The LLMD took me off the mino because they were so extreme.
He ordered an MRI to see if there was anything funky going on up there since I was also getting olfactory hallucinations with and after the migraines.
However, by the time of the MRI appt, I'd been off the mino for a few weeks and no problems were found, other than a small lesion.

Minocin is said to penitrate the BBB.

Hmmmm....I think I may have had some olfactory hallucinations as well. I smelled something very foul the other night that no one else could smell. I really want this to work b/c of it's ability to penetrate the BBB very well.
The headaches aren't that bad anymore. I am having cold and flu symptoms and sore all over. Had that before starting the Mino though.
