Hi,
Just had my 1st visit with my lyme doc. I was diagnosed in Nov and had a baby in Sept. I have been breastfeeding since she was born and I thought the doc said she would be protected once I started antibiotics.
Now I wonder. It is just Zithromax, just treating intracellular lyme. What about transmitting coinfections? What about still transmitting lyme?
Then there is the question of antibiotic resistance. If she gets Zithromax thru the breast milk, will that make it harder to treat her some day if we need to?
I have a call into him, but the office isn't open till Tuesday.
Any info?? [confused]
Thanks!!

My opinion only: I think that breastfeeding is a good way to protect your children against lyme, as it will transfer your antibodies. Others may tell you not to do it. Truth is, none of us really know.
