I am curious what the current monthly or weekly costs are for IV Rocehpin. (at whatever dose you take)
If you have approx. costs for dressing changes, tubing, syringes, , other costs associated with IV care etc that would be helpful as well.
Feel free to pm if you don't feel comfortable posting publicly. I would just like to know what we are getting into before a decision is made. Thank you.

Using the generic IV Ceftriaxne is much cheaper... for the supplies and drug it can cost anywhere from $600- $1,000 per week. Dressing changes are done by your home health care nurse, I don't know how much that costs w/o insurance paying for it. Good luck!

I Use Branded Roche Rocephin 2gm which comes with the water to mix for IV Push (so everything) and it is 17 Euro. Then the syringe with needle costs 20 cents.
I am on 6 days a week so my monthly cost is 408 Euro which is $535.00 per month.
You can also get Rocephin IM for injection but this is more expensive for some reason.
So Drug is $535.00 per month Syringes with needles are 20 cents Tegaderm 50 in a box which lasts 25 weeks is 18 Euro's Saline flushes that are 5 Euro's for a box of 20 Dressing packs just under 2 Euro
So my total monthly cost everyting all in for IV is approx $560.00

Betty,
I posted this question because I wanted the most current information. That thread was started years ago. Prices can change dramatically in a short amount of time depending on manufacturing supply/demand, manufacturing quality issues, etc.
Does anyone else have current pricing info for Rocephin and supplies? Thanks

I am currently using ceftriaxone, 2gm a day.
Due to the ineptitude of a pharmacy, I ended up having to pay for 2 days worth of treatment. The bill included: heparin, saline, dressing kit, gloves, line extensions, ceftriaxone, etc. Everything needed for 2 days including the nurses supplies for changing the dressing. The bill was $312.
That adds up to about $4500 a month. Actually a bit less because the dressing kits are only needed weekly.

Anyone using a mail order pharmacy besides Infuserve? Anyone paying out of pocket with Coram?
Curious if more people could provide out of pocket costs.
Thanks in advance.

We paid $282 for 2gx25 vials of ceftriaxone at the Harris Teeter Supermarket pharmacy a few months ago. This was for the med in powder form that had to be reconstituted in saline for IV admin.

We are paying $720/week + $200 for home health care.
$720 covers Rocephin (2 grams), saline, heparin, IV tubing, alcohol swabs, gloves, dressing changes, and various odds and ends.
We are using a Lyme literate home care service. PM if you want some info.

FYI- My latest purchase of Rocephin was from Costco and was the cheapest by far for me. The label says:
"Ceftriaxone 1 gram vial APO 10 pack"
I purchased 120 grams this way for about $540. So taking 2 grams per day for 30 days would be $270 plus about $30 misc supplies. I self administer with a PICC line and have blood drawn for testing each week (lab costs for me are paid for by Medicare).
Hope this helps!

Costco is the cheapest I've found unless you are fortunate to have a good relationship with your understanding pharmacist. Mine (bless them) sells me my 2gr/day dose of Ceftriaxone at only a 10% mark up of what it costs them (around $4.67/gram or $280 for 30 days). You can always ask and hope you find a sympathetic ear with the ability to help you out. I get by mixing my own drugs for a PICC push and having my housemate change my dressing. After the whole everything the IV and medication costs around $500 dollars a month. Good Luck!
