hello all

let me thank you in advance for your help

my cousin lives in MA and i recently visited her for the first time in years

she has been diagnosed with Lupus and has been getting progressively worse for the past 5 years

i was astonished at how much her symptoms where exactly like my wifes who has Borillia, bartonlla,babesia (all CDC positive)

while in her company i noticed her to have all types of sensory sensativities, severe joint paint, short term memory issues, and some brief loss of time (blank stair) almost like mild seizure activity.

she feels confident in her diagnosis based on the doc telling her she has a positive ANA, that coupled with her other symptoms.

im concrened it could be lyme based on the extreme similarities in her condition w/ my wife and the fact she lives in MA which as we all know is a huge lyme state

finally the question! LOL

how many lymies have also had a positive ANA only to find out it wasnt lupus -

The best way to find out is to do a search on this topic.

I know of many who had a positive ANA.

Most of them converted from positive to negative during treatment for Lyme.

Encourage your friend to get a Western Blot from Igenex.

Steroids which are often used to treat Lupus,

Are a big no-no for us Lymeies.

My husband and my 4 year old son both had positive ANA titers. They both have lyme, bartonalla and babesia. My husband has actually tested positive for all.

Many, many lymies have a high ANA. I myself don't, but my husband does. As does his mother and she was diagnosed with lupus, but I'm pretty positive she has lyme as well.

I think it's a very flawed symstem when doctors use only the high/positive ANA to diagnose lupus.

Also, not to mention, many lymies as well as LLMDs believe that lupus in most cases is lyme anyway.
