Does Anyone Know How to Treat HHV6 and EBV Viruses ???
I heard some say that there is no treatments for these,
and that one just lives with them,
while others say there are Specific meds for both or each of these...
Anyone Know ???
Thank You.
Best regards, Eric

Valcyte has shown promise but it has the potential for dangerous sides.
Another poster, Timaca, has experience with these issues.
I know that I've tried Valtrex, the weaker drug, for a while with little success.

I have heard that Acyclovir (not sure on spelling) works against members of the herpres family (which I think includes EBV).
I am not sure if this means that in an actual patient you would notice a difference in the way you feel, I guess it just boils down to what is actually to blame for the bulk of your symptoms.
There are other natural things like Olive Leaf Extract, and Takuna from nutramedix.com, and some say freeze dried garlic. I have no experience with any of these to know how well they work.
If someone has noticed an actual improvement in their symptoms from any of these products, I hope they come forward and share, because I don't usually buy things without someone telling me it helped them noticably......if I didn't go by that policy, I would spend way too much money.
But I am very interested in hearing about any successes from these products.

Lymestop,
are we related ???
Interesting article you got there...
Makes me wonder,
If me always being tired and needing extra rest is a result of only one band 23 of Lyme present,
or my very high numbers of HHV6 and EBV...
???

Hi Eric,
Have you done anything to treat for parasites and worms? These pathogens have a special symbiosis with these viruses.
When you get rid of the parasites, the rest of the infections will calm down or go away completely as mine have. I have also found that sometimes the skin manifestations that appear to be herpes can actually be parasites.
Parasites and Worms are a MAJOR part of Lyme disease. Please don't ignore this. I want to see you get well,
Gael

We're waiting results for those who are treating the viruses with the bionic 880.

Gael,
Hiiiiiiiiiii !!!!!
So good to hear from you...
No I have not yet treated parasites, but since Im still New to all this just doing more research and learning,
for now I am on Ceftin pills, 500mg 2 x day plus various Probiotics and Vitamins.
And having High numbers of HHV6 along with EBV and Lyme all into one batch, at times puzzles and confuses me which symptom is from what and why the always tired feeling I have and sleepy during the entire day...
And the corrupt IDSA people are ofcourse of no help.
And also the last few weeks was spending lots of hours taking some activism online, for Lyme to get awareness by the Obama team... for Us All...
And Thanks so much to all the other replies, hope to hear more comments and advice from others as well...
All these darn viruses and diseases are so baffling and upsetting, and depression over all this does not help at all...
I just know one very important thing is the need to continue to help boost the immune system, and hopefully never give up the fight to one day be able and do the things I miss the most, like vacation, go skiing, boating, fishing, and so much more.
Thank You To All.
Best regards, Eric

I did valcyte for 8 months.
It did bring both HHV-6 and EBV titers down.
I didn't feel much better though.
Hugs,

I've got high EBV and HHV6 titers, too. My Lyme doc says that we might have to treat this eventually.
However, hopefully once the Lyme and co-infections are under control, my immune system will be strong enough to fight them off on its own.
But we might have to treat them. As others have mentioned, there are antiviral prescription drug.
There are also a number of antiviral herbal medicines, such as monolaurin. My LLMD works with CAM (and is married to an LLND), so I imagine we will try the herbals first because the antivirals can be expensive.

They've actually changed the protocol for valcyte.
Now a loading dose of two pills a day for a week.
Then one pill a week thereafter.
It is very, very expensive.
My cost was 40.00 with insurance.
Without the cost is over $4000.00 a month.
That doesn't include the weekly blood work, more frequent doctor visits either.
Hugs,
Geneal

I'm on my fourth LLD as of today, and none of them recommend treating these. I have high titers myself, they just say it's no big deal and all Lymies have them.
Posted by eric555 (Member # 18343) on :
Thank you all for your great info and input...
I too will have a talk with my LLMD this Thursday about these, who also at first said not to worry about these and to take no action...
But the symptomps of Fatigue and a Flu like cold that I have makes me wonder, runny nose, sneezing, feet are cold, not sure if Im treating the right thing.
And thanks to All for your comments, advice and time.
Hope to hear more from those may have anything else to share.
Best regards, Eric

I just posted a reply on the HHV-6 board regarding EBV. Go to:
Best, Timaca

Dr. H ni CA calls it low-hanging fruit, but still needs to be addressed when titers are over a certain threshhold, IGM or IGG.
I had 1:160 IGG for HHV-6, and positive IGM on several occasions for EBV, treated these with the bionic and they haven't come back, at least energetically. Will try to get titers tested at my next MD visit to see if they've changed at all.

timaca,
it will not let me sign in at all...
not sure what i am doing wrong.
could you please post it here...
thank you.

Just my opinion.....I think boosting the immune system and beating the Lyme will then irradicate any viral infections that we have. Normally our bodies would just fight these viruses off with ease. That is why I believe that when we get the Lyme under control our bodies can then work more normally to rid ourselves of these pesty viruses.
Posted by SForsgren (Member # 7686) on :
There are certainly treatments, but they cannot be erradicated entirely or "cured". I like Olive Leaf, Rizol Zeta, some of the NutraMedix herbs, Lauricidin, and others. Most of the population carries these but they may not be active. I tried both Valtrex and Valcyte with no significant improvements. Personally, I would not do either of those again, but I do know that some feel like Valcyte was helpful for HHV6.

eric~
Here is the info:
Here is a link to an article about chronic EBV infection:
Patients with "high" antibody titers against HHV-6 IgG ≥ 640, EBV VCA IgG ≥ 640 and detectable EA Ab at 1:160 or HHV-6 IgG ≥ 320 if EBV VCA IgG ≥ 1280 and has detectable EA Ab at 1:160 (measured by the average of a minimum of two time points obtained during screening at least 3 weeks apart).
You can also view two videos about EBV infection on the HHV-6 website: www.hhv-6foundation.org
"View videos from the Symposium on Viruses in CFS"
Hope this helps. Best, Timaca

Timaca,
thank you, just now makes it even more harder to know what to do or treat...
treat lyme, or treat these viruses...
they all seem to give off similar symptomps so its just more baffling.
my doctor said to leave them alone and just to target lyme, as do most people here, so not sure what to do.
oyyyy...

Timaca,
Did you fully recover after the treatments for HHV6 or other viruses? I'm sorry if I missed it in your post.
If not, how much better did you get, and did it last?
Posted by METALLlC BLUE (Member # 6628) on :
Dr H's office in NY prescribed Valtrex for the EBV, but Valcyte is recommended if HHV6 is present in combination.

I use my GB-4000 and Rife for both. Seems to help me feel better for a week or so. I also use the LightWorks every few days. This has a way of giving me peace when other things will not. Grace

Eric~ It can be hard to know what to treat. After dealing with this illness for 5+ years, my personal conclusion is to treat the obvious. If you have high antibody titers to something, treat it. I personally wouldn't "leave them alone." And I would not treat something that I have low antibodies to, or just a band or two on the WB.
aiden~ I have not fully recovered. I am still dealing with Cpn (chlamydia pneumonia); EBV and likely enterovirus. I am on acyclovir (an antiviral) and doxy (antibiotic). I honestly hope to address the enterovirus next, for I feel that is a significant issue for me. I am much improved, however. Both antibiotics and valcyte gave me significant improvement.
Good luck to all...I know what a puzzle it is trying to figure out what the pathogens are that are issues.

The DNA viruses like EBV and CMV are a actually a good measure of how your immune system is working. Most people with heathy immune systems carry these viruses around with no problems.
Treating them with an antviral can help your immune system fight other things. Valcyte and other antivirals all do about the same thing, but its your own system that has to keep it down once you get it down, that's why it goes hand in hand with LD.
Unlike LD, you can easily measure how active these viruses are by your titers rate, but you can't measure their effect, only the way they make you feel.

Acyclovir, Valtrex, and Famvir are used to treat EBV, which is a herpes virus (HHV-2 or HHV-3?). I saw significant improvement (greater mental clarity, less muscle weakness, more stamina) with Acyclovir. Unfortunately, these effects only lasted about two months and I was never able to get the drug to work again. This was early in my illness, like 1991.
Valcyte and other drugs are needed for HHV-6. Timaca's links are the best resources for info on the science as well as people's experiences with various antivirals.
I don't understand the reluctance of LLMDs to look beyond TBDs. If the immune system is dysfunctional, it stands to reason that viruses, parasites, and other pathogens could be reactivated and cause symptoms.
No one really knows what's causing our immune dysfunction. It may be a TBD, it may be a virus, it may be something no one has yet discovered. Without that knowledge, it only makes sense to me to treat everything that is showing up and is treatable.
My lab results for EBV and HHV-6 should be in soon. If the EBV is positive, I hope to add Valtrex. I take Azithromycin and Minocycline for Bart.Mepron was prescribed for a diaguess of Babesia (I tested negative for it).

Deseret Biologicals has homeopathic series remedy for EBV. They also have an EBV homeopathic detox combination remedy.
For some reason they also suggest the Cytomegalovirus remedy for people who have EBV.
These products could probably be used with Lightworks or other biophoton machine for greater effectiveness, especially with backup from a naturopath or other supportive physician.
It seems to me they have an HHV-6 product, but I was not able to locate one this morning.

High dose IV vitamin C drips, with other nutrients added, works wonders to bring down viral loads with
lots of additional benefits, too. Hydrogen peroxide IV drips are also very effective for virus. I've had excellent success using them.
Of course monolaurin, oil of oregano, grapefruit seed extract and olive leaf extract all help and probably have been already mentioned.

Chisholm Laboratory also has a Lyme Specific Transfer Factor that also trains the immune system to fight of the viruses that go along with Lyme and Co's.
You won't find them online, if you want info PM me Please.
They will send you any information you want or talk to you on the phone and answer questions.
