I used to get 1) Huge gushes of saliva in my mouth and 2) Periods where I just had excess.
It went away a couple months after starting abx.
Good luck

Crystal,
It really tapered off and then disapeared altogether. One of my LLDs said it was cranial nerve involvement..of course I can't remember exactly what...but it's gone.

Totally yes! When I first got acutely sick I had to spit in a cup as, like you said, it was making me nauseous; it felt like I had gallons of saliva.

I've been treating for 11 months. It's not near the problem now, but still have times where I have "extra" spit. I think my cranial nerves are really involved as I also have a numb weird tongue a lot, some facial numbness...all is better since starting treatment, but far from gone; a painfully slow process, ugh.

You're not alone! TS

Hi Crystal and others,

I've noticed extra saliva in the last couple of months. It's not a huge volume, but it's enough that I often spit a little when I speak. Of course this is annoying and kinda gross.

I don't remember ever having to swallow saliva regularly before. Seems like it just slid down most of the time, without me noticing it. Now I have to make a conscious effort to swallow to avoid too much moisture.

Are any of you taking Iodoral? I've been taking it more regularly in the last month or two. Probably about the same length of time that I've noticed the increased saliva.

I finished a bottle recently and decided to actually read the little paper insert in the bottle. It said one of the things to watch out for is extra saliva production, and to call your doctor if you notice that. Hmmm.

Maybe I will cut back on the dosage and see if that changes anything.

For me it was related to my gallbladder for some reason. When the bile got sludgy the food just sat in my stomach for hours and my mouth kept filling with saliva.Yuk!

Nutmeg,
Mine happened back in the days before I took any medication for ANYTHING..so for me it was clearly infection-related. It was one of my first symptoms.

Like Joysie, my extra saliva started well before any meds or diagnosis. I too believe mine to be completely infection related. TS

betty,

Have you tried medication for saliva production.
I don't know what it is called, but it does exist.

I had a period of a few weeks recently where I had some kind of low-grade nausea--it wasn't normal nausea, though. I'd get hungry and then get sick on whateveer I ate.

I had a lot of saliva when that was going on.

The only other time I had extra saliva was when I was pregnant and had morning sikness.

And I know that's not an issue now, lol.

I have had this problem since starting 400mg of doxycycline. My mouth is producing saliva which tastes like bile. It's terrible.
