What is the deal with this? I have been doing some research online and there isn't much scientific evidence proving that this is helpful. So, why do we do it? I know the salt makes you sweat... but I don't really get the point of all of this. Can someone explain this to me?

Also, I read that you are supposed to shower after soaking in the tub. That makes sense but do you do that?

Thanks.

It's used for detoxing. Epsom salt is magnesium sulfate and it pulls out toxins from the body.

You need to put at least two cups in the bath in water as hot as you can stand for at least twenty minutes.

It will not only pull out toxins, but will relax your muscles and

some believe that being in hot water can kill off some ketes as they can't tolerate hot temps.

Some people alternate baths with baking soda for the same purpose. Epson salt baths are very effective and you may

find a horrible, nasty ring around the tub when you are done.

Not sure about the reason for the shower after wards.

Do a search for Epsom salt & detox and you will find more information about it.

Hey, I can finally help here!!

Abxnomore is right. The baths are for detoxing and to relax muscles and joints that ache.

The shower afterwards is to rinse off the toxins so they don't soak right back into your skin, because with your skin sweaty and your pores open, the skin will just suck the toxins back up.

Plus, the salt left on you will itch you to death!!
