Hello LymeNet Folks,

Went to my new dr who is an LLMD.

He sent me a western blot test kit and I had
blood drawn here and sent it to the lab he
recommended.

It came back positive, I found out Friday at my
first appointment.

It is hard because me and my family are kind of
happy that finally a test actually came up with
something wrong.

But then of course it is going to be daunting and
expensive.

I lost my insurance Yesterday, was on
cobra from my job, which I lost because of this
illness.

We have to sell the house and keep the money we
make for medical expenses.

To top it all off, my Husband sells cars, need I
say more about that?

But at least we know which mountain we have to
climb and I don't have small kids anymore, so
neighborhoods aren't quite as big of a deal.

[kiss] But thanks to you here on this forum for your
help with everything and guiding me in the right
direction.

I do have a few questions.

1) My cousin is diagnosed with MS and he grew up in same place as me. I need to know where he can
go in or near Austin Texas.

2) My sister Also has just got diagnosed with a
sleep disorder and She live in Boise Idaho. So We
need an LLMD for her and her Husband.

3) I have been reading a lot about Lyme and have
seen that BB can go to our babies, Is that right?
How likely is that. Does anyone have any
statistics on that?

I hope I wrote this to be easy to read this time.
There is a learning curve to posting here.. [Wink] lol.

Thanks,
Conny

Hi Conny, congratulations on finally having answers to your health problems. I was diagnosed two years ago after over 30 years of having Lyme. I am mostly better today.

I have six kids and one has been diagnosed with Lyme. She had her own tick bite so we don't know if it was congenital. I do not think there are actual statistics on it, but yes, it can be passed on.

Hi Conny

One way you can Greatly reduce the cost of
your meds is to buy them in Mexico --

Meds there cost about 1/10th of meds
in the US --

I fly to El Paso and cross the boarder there-
Its easy -- the only draw back is soon a
passport will be needed to cross back
into the US-

I got bit in Austin TX about One year after
moving here -- 21 yrs ago
I got both Lyme and Babs --Jay--

It's good you have a positive test! Many of us don't!

If you can tolerate generic, most meds come that way.

Orals are cheaper than IV.

Don't save on probiotics or supplements.

Buy good ones.

It is worth the money.

Save every receipt, mile traveled, etc.

For possible deductions at tax time.

Maybe apply for disability?

Are you eligible for unemployment benefits?

Glad you have a diagnosis.

That to me is half the battle.

We're here for you for the other half.

Hugs,

Geneal

Hi. Sorry you have lyme. Even sorrier you lost your job.

But are there $4.00 generic drug programs where you are?

Just see if your doctor will put you on those.

Doxycycline is 4.00 through generic and so is ceftin and I think Bactrim but not sure.

Good luck
