Well, I won't go into great details about all my lyme and health issues, but I was recently discharged from the hospital. On the discharge papers, it said, "Follow up with your regular doctor" and "Please make an appointment with your Lyme EXPERT as soon as possible."

I saw the general doctor. His prescription and notes for me, in writing..... "Please see your Lyme disease EXPERT and follow up with me."

That's right, my Lyme EXPERT!!!! HELLO!! I finally feel validated. I feel like I have a humble admission from them that they need help and that I need expert care from an LLMD. (Which I knew of course). I am saving and framing these. And then putting them in a fireproof safe deposit box. You just never know when you might need to pull these things out. Too bad insurance won't pay for me to see the EXPERT recommended by my General MD! grrr

imanurse, I believe I would run with this. Go up against the insurance company with your doctors advice, in print, and see what happens.

Good luck, Pam

Here, here...if you're well enough to "take them on." It certainly seems like it should be covered when you have an "official" REFERRAL from your M.D. Don't you think? Wow...unbelievable an actual referral. I don't blame you for keeping it in a fireproof box, amazing! TS
