Hi All, I was reading LymeMD's blog a someone wrote colloidal silver is toxic...someone else said not.

My LLMD has me on it and I would love to know what the real deal is.

Any experiences one way or another? Any facts?

I don't want to be putting more toxins in my body. I was about to step up my silver intake...but don't want to if it is going to harm me.

I think everyone is different but if it makes me feel a lot better I would say it is not toxic.

I could hardly walk before, much less stay awake and now I am a lot better. I do the OJ and salt too, but I have low BP and low Sodium. So the spoon of sea salt does not hurt me.

They think the silver attaches to the varmits rendering them unproductive or infertile? They use a silver stain to identify them. Turns them brown. So I would say yes it does something to help.

Thanks so much for the response, Pinelady!!

I have been taking the silver...in relatively small doses and I'd say it helps, too.

Yeah, I have low BP, too...maybe I should try that. Vit C and salt. What do you do for that?

Thanks again!! You have helped me out! And I appreciate it!!

My doctor has me on silver. It causes a herx after so many days I have to ease up but I am tolerating more than I originally did. Nothing I read says it is toxic.

Someone put this link up on another board...a little info that it's toxic...but it's so hard to weigh this, you know? How important is this? Are they covering their butts?

I may lay off silver and try the Vit. C and salt treatment.

Silver Salts, low quality and homemade colloidal silver is toxic and prone to side effects (Arygia ; turning blue)

Laboratory made, high quality colloidal silver does not seem to be. I've been on ACS200 for quite some time with no ill effects. I can't say it helps specifically, but I am fairly sure it doesn't hurt.

Thanks, Blackstone. That makes a lot of sense. I know Mesosilver is suppose to be very high quality....that is what I have been taking. And also have noticed no ill effects...and I'm not sure if it helps - maybe? It's hard to know when your on so much stuff.

Dietary Supplement Can Turn The Skin Permanently Blue, Reports The Harvard Health Letter
24 Jul 2007

Colloidal silver is peddled as a cold medicine, decongestant, all-around germ fighter, and a kind of cure- all. Is there any legitimate reason for taking the dietary supplement? The short answer is no, and there may be some serious and strange side effects, reports the August 2007 issue of the Harvard Health Letter.

Silver has several uses in conventional medicine. Silver sulfadiazine is used to treat serious burns. Fabric impregnated with silver is sometimes used as a dressing for wounds or skin infections. And silver nitrate is occasionally used to treat warts and corns.

But there's no proof that taking colloidal silver by mouth has any benefits. As for harm, brain and nerve damage from silver exposure is rare, but colloidal silver can cause kidney damage, stomach distress, and headaches.

The most common problem associated with silver exposure is argyria: the skin turns a bluish gray as granules of silver accumulate in the body. The conjunctiva (the membrane that covers the eyes) and internal organs may also be affected. Once silver is deposited, there's no way to get it out, so the discoloration may be permanent.

Will the colloidal silver products currently on the market turn you blue? The Harvard Health Letter says if you use them for a short time and in recommended amounts, probably not. But some people overdo it. For example, a 59-year-old man was sent to the emergency room because he looked cyanotic -- the bluish color that indicates a person is not getting enough oxygen. It turned out he'd been taking a homemade version of colloidal silver whenever he felt a cold coming on.

That bogus claims page is helpful...I'm going to do some research and see if they match up to the mesosilver claims....

The real deal is that it can be wonderful, even amazing.

The Blue Man - he made his own.

If the water supply is not correct it will have this toxic result.

Just after dx, but still unable to find a LLMD in '97, Source Naturals Colloidal Silver kept me from having to go into a wheelchair - I simply could not walk.

It is not easy for the liver to metabolize silver and I have taken one brand that tasted bad - and triggered seizures in me - (I, naturally, stopped).

So much depends upon the quality of the brand. Still, it's best to go slow.

At one time (around '97) I spoke by phone with the Ph.D. who discovered the lyme spirochete. I asked him what he would do: "abx or silver?" He said silver.

While not silver, you might be interested in these books:

Wow! Thanks Keebler!! That is really interesting stuff. And I'm so happy you avoided a wheelchair. That is huge!

I'll check out those links. I have Buhner's book and am on a couple things he suggests....which have helped a lot!

Oh cool! I didn't know about Buhner's web site. Have you seen Planet Thrive? He has a question and answer area on that site.
