hey everyone,

i don't have an LLMD at the moment (long story), otherwise i'd ask him/her this question.

anyway, here's the deal: i've been getting a RIDICULOUS number of colds this winter. at first i thought it might be a good sign, as normally when i'm sick with lyme i don't catch anything that happens to be floating around, no colds or flus at all. in fact before this virus-bout from h*ll hit i hadn't had a cold in about two or more years. (i know most of us are familiar with this scenario.)

since late october, however, i've been sick almost constantly. i'll get over a cold, then a month or two later catch another one. right now i'm fighting something off and i was *just sick two weeks ago. what is going on?? is this cause for concern? i know it's a bad winter for flus and colds but this just seems excessive and worrisome. i think i'll see my pcp (who doesn't have a clue about lyme) and at the very least get a CBC drawn.

any thoughts/ ideas would be greatly appreciated.

thanks in advance.

read my banana post also; believe colds were covered in there too.

how about a humidifier there also giving you extra moisture.

best wishes! [group hug] [kiss]

This has been happening with my kids this winter, and for me to some extent too.

It's just one thing after another. My older son got over one bout of bronchitis, and 2 weeks after finishing the antibiotics, he had it again.

It's ridiculous! The doctors say it's nothing to worry about, especially with the kids (their building their immunity up for later--whatever).

And I'm dealing with sinus infection after sinus infection. We have no insurance right now, so I'm self-treating and hoping it doesn't get worse.

I hear ya. I just got over my 7th `cold' since December 6th. So far, I've been able to `zap' every one of them with various homeopathic remedies and they are completely gone in less than a day. But then the same thing happens again, eventually.

There seems to be a relationship between going to the public library and out shopping - handling money and other `community' objects? - but this is ridiculous. I've never been particularly conscientious about washing my hands when I get home, but maybe that's exactly what I'll try next.

I did experience some `sinus infection' symptoms last fall that would come and go but they never really manifested well enough as something I could try to treat..... it could be that I have something chronic going on and that's why I seem to be susceptible this winter.

Oh, yeah, and it may be significant that I had a huge amalgam filling removed and replaced on December 1st, right before this all started...... so there may be a connection there.

I've talked to some other people, and there does seem to be some kind of trend. Some friends I have in Wyoming have had the same thing going on, and not only that, but their horses all have respiratory infections that they can't seem to get rid of completely, either. Strange.

I'm fortunate that I haven't really suffered much, but it's annoying as heck and I'd much rather be thinking about other things than zapping colds on a regular basis.

Not everyone can do homeopathics, but one of the best OTC cold remedies out there is Zicam, and it's a 1x homeopathic prep. It's by far the most popular cold remedy around this town. Get the lozenges, not the nose swabs. There have been cases of permanent loss of smell from direct contact in the nasal passages (the swabs). If you use Zicam, keep taking it even when you start to feel better in a day or two or you'll probably relapse. I used to use Zicam before I got involved with homeopathics.

My LLMD is adament her patients don't get colds or the flu - it can set us back months

Here's what I take - I think you have to get it from a licensed practioner who sells this stuff, but IT WORKS!

Maybe you can find someone in NYC who carries it

San Pharma Notatum -Quentans Nasal Spray (my LLMD said you can use this if you feel a cold coming on every 20 minutes until symptoms abate)

Also - SanPharma Notatum Capsules and SanPharma Quentans capsules

In combination with the nasal spray you will be in good shape!

thanks for the suggestions, everyone; will definitely take them into consideration. i am so tired of my body being an acute virus factory.

I've been trying to get a cold since November and finally got it a few weeks ago and am just getting over it. My husband got it first and he almost never gets colds but he and I have both been fighting it off. This is his second cold (he doesn't have lyme and almost never gets sick). I avoided any other colds so far this year.

Mine was much milder than his due to the San Pharma Notatum suppositories. I've been taking them for months via muscle testing for removal of toxins. As Lark said, they are amazing for stopping a cold.

We also do rife but of the electro medicine, the best thing we've used for colds is the zapper. Problem is that you may have to use it everyday for awhile. It does work though.

Also, LarreaRX for viruses is amazing. Larix (Larch) for the immune system. IP-6 seems to help the immune system too.

I used to have colds and flu non-stop for years. My doctor insisted that I go the flu vaccine route and I did that for a few years and then stopped them. I haven't done that in a number of years due to reading about thimersol and other problems with vaccines.

Sometimes it's hard to tell if the symptoms are related to lyme, bart or babs rather than a cold. You know, chills, feverish, sore throat, sinus drainage, achey etc. can actually be caused by TBI's.

Anytime I go out I wash my hands the minute I come into the house, before doing anything else. I wash them again after putting the groceries away. Use a lot of friction and get between the fingers.

Hey Tracy - so good to see you back!! I really missed you. [kiss]

Terry

Hi, Terry! I've missed you, too! I have managed to catch up on at least some of your informative posts the past few months!

The SanPharma products sound great, so thanks Larkspur and Terry.

I've heard that Simalisan? cold products are very good, but I've not been able to find any for colds here. Vitacost carries some Simalisan? products, but they didn't have anything for colds (last I checked).

And I'm definitely going to start washing my hands more diligently after leaving the house!

What has helped me tremendously since I have struggled with sinus infections, cold, sore throats a lot is a Grossan Irrigator.

I found my first one online a few years ago and have been using them ever since. You can put salt, baking soda, tea tree oil, Grapefruit seed extract in the water.

It feels wonderful to get all that junk in the back of your throat gone too. I use mine every morning and it keeps the colds away.

I can sympathize. I got so many colds as well as a horrible stomach flu this winter.

I kept catching them from my family, who being insensitive would not mention they were sick and be sitting right next to me and coughing.

My father even told me, your already sick, so whats it matter?

Nice huh? Each time I got sick it hit me sooo hard! And just like you I hadn't gotten a cold in a number of years before this winter.

People say it's supossed to be a sign that the immune system is up and running, but who knows, all I know is it wasn't fun.

Karate - Grossan Irrigator? is that th same as a netty pot? And you put all those things in the water? What are they supposed to do?

Tabby,

I don't know if its the same as a netty pot. You put all the ingredients in the water and hold the nasal irrigator in one side of your nose.

The water and ingredients gets up into your sinuses and clears out all the junk and comes out the other nostril. It feels so much nicer afterwards.

I hope to eliminate a lot of this when I get my drops from Allergie-Immun. I'm waiting on them to come in the mail.

I think I bought my irrigator through Amazon.com.

Heiwalove,

If viral, I would simply take St. John's wort 3x day. Best and strongest remedy in general. I usually stop viral colds with it on day one. Cheap and effective.

I used to use Ferrum phosphoricum in the first day, then Hypericum after, but I guess the strongest-fastest is simply St. J. Wort directly.

If not viral, best to muscle test Sanum products and get the right San or nosodes. We just stopped Strep from my daughter with San Strep (probably another name there in the US) and the nosode of Strep (with photons though, not ingested).

Once the cold is there, then we go only for Similasan products, and the impact of the cold (coughs / runny nose / stuff nose) is very low.

I see all guys around sick here, and we've been preventing every single cold with muscle tests, and it works very well. I even start to be worried if this preventative treatment will not mess up the immune system of the whole family, as we don't catch colds (we stop it before).

I wonder if long term, this is good, never to let a cold develop and cutting it on day one. I wonder if someone has an opinion about it?? I forgot to ask my homeopath last time I saw him...

hey selma,

i can't take st john's wort as i'm on a low dose of antidepressants and the two don't mix well. i will definitely look into your other suggestions though!

can i obtain the similasan products without ordering them through a practitioner? which product(s) in particular do you recommend for a cold?

also if anyone knows if/where i can purchase the sanpharma products without a practitioner's order, i'd really appreciate that info as well.

thanks!

also, what brand and strength of the homeopathics (ferrum, etc) do you take?

Posted by heiwalove (Member # 6467) on :

tabby, that's what i'm wondering -- does it mean the immune system is waking up or does it mean the immune system is compromised? so confusing..

Posted by Tabby (Member # 13917) on :

Well kind of both. In the past when we weren't getting the colds, we actually were most likely getting the virus's but just didn't know it because our immune system was so low.

The immune system uses, sneazing, coughing, vomiting, etc to get rid of these germs.

So when it is to weak it doesn't do these thing's, the virus remains embedded in our system and we have no clue that anything is differant.

Now that your immune system is healthier, your body is still catching the virus, but your body is working better to fight it off, hence sneezing, coughing, and feeling crummy.

So it is supposed to be a good thing, because it shows that our body can now fight against stuff.

I hope this makes sense, not sure if im explaining well [Smile]

I agree with Selma, muscle testing is the best way to deal with colds.

The SanPharma Notatum Suppositories state:
Indications:
For relief of cold symptoms, earaches, bacterial infections and respiratory infections.

It works very well for colds. I use it for biotoxins via muscle testing.

Selma, so glad you found a source for these products and have found them useful. They are amazing products in my opinion.

They are normally sold through ND's or other doctors but you can buy them on-line with a quick, free phone consultation. There are several companies that sell them this way.

Terry
