It's been over two weeks since my PICC was pulled and the swelling in my upper arm has only gone down a centimeter if at all. It was 6 1/2 centimeters larger than the other arm.
How long should it take for this swelling to go down? Anyone have experience with this?

Are they going to recheck it with that ultrasound like test (cant remember what it is called)
Someone I know had a blood clot in their arm and they had the test done again to make sure it had stayed in a superfical vein (from what i understand it is not a big problem in the superfical vein ...at least thats what we were told)
I am sorry I don't have an answer for you but just wanted to say..
sorry you have had to go through soooo much. (((((Tracy))))

Take nattokinase to dissolve the blood clot.
I'm not a doctor. That's what i read on a blood clot forum. One person from Switzerland was the nattokinase guru--- she's had personal success using nattokinase.
Were you already taking nattokinase, or lumbrokinase,to prevent bloodclots? Did you have Heparin with your IV?
The Swiss person, living in Washington state, woke up from surgery with a blood clot from groin to i forget where, knee?, and dissolved it with nattokinase. I don't know how much or how long; i could try to find the right notes.
I read once that nattokinase dissolved a blood clot in a petri dish in 18 hours. In your body it would take much longer of course.

Holy Cow!!!!
Are you on any type of blood thinner?
Please be careful. That clot can break loose and travel.
I didn't know about this.
Sending you prayers and Angels to surround you.
Hugs,
Geneal

Please insist that they check it thoroughly for a clot with ultrasound. They seem to have been extremely poor in their care of/for you.

Please, go back to your MD and ask to be put on blood thinners ASAP, if this MD doesn't want to do it, find one that does it. Superficial vein, deep vein, blah blah blah, they are all connected and eventually the clot will expand or move to a very dangerous area.
After the placement of A PICC line in my arm, I developed a clot on a "superficial vein", nothing (except an ultrasound) was done for 4 days, my pain and swelling got worse and worse. I ended up in the ER with a clot in my lung. They put me immediately on lovenox shots and had to stay on cummadin for 9 months. I didn't had a PE just because is was not my time to go yet. Really, pure luck.
Once again, please get the proper treatment for a blood clot, it is serious, especially is the pain and swelling is still present.
Good luck to you, Lymster in WA

Some healing modalities might suggest that your body is trying to say something here. Perhaps this isn't the appropriate time in your healing process for IVs.
Certainly, you haven't exhausted other less invasive possibilities (Champlion's) before taking this step. Does it almost seem as if someone else has made this decision for you?
As we say, follow your heart, but don't get lost! Does the picc line really lead to you heart of hearts? The one only you know? At your age (and any age) blood clots can be very serious.
Never forget your tx protocol is in its infancy at best, supervised by thoughtful professionals (we hope) only guessing with slim supporting anecdotal evidence. There are similarly dedicated people treating lyme & co. with tbd-specific tx protocols thousands of years in the testing that acheive equal or greater success and recovery.
I know people who now refuse to take even initial abx for a new lyme infection. (I would take them.) They immediately go alternative and seem to be doing quite well 10-15 years later. I have tried to introduce you to some of them.
Let's be careful about adopting one of modern society's abused and most exploited protocols (throw a bunch 'o drugs at it) as the only answer. To paraphrase Dr Andrew Weil: It's all placebo response in the end. Even the mechanism by which function the abx. Everything they can do should be achievable by the mind. This might take intensive study and practice in the most extreme cases of illness. I understand some will never do this.
But it's not a bad idea to consider, especially as future prophylactic practice. Meditation and mind control may be one of the only answers providing future health and protection for some sacrificing possible efficacious later use of abx due to previous massive lyme & co. treatments. (That these protocols invoke that rarest of instances in which almost every practitioner from all known healing disciplines - traditional, alternative and otherwise - finds primary skepticism is something truly to consider.)
Remember, the next day after you finish all (years?) IV abx, etc., you can get a brand new fresh case o' lyme. No matter how careful you are, and especially if you keep in/outside pets in the house. (70 % of lyme cases)
Here is an example of mind control from the Buddhist tradition informing my Vietnamese healing system. Those suffering pain symptoms might take a cu(r)e here as well. Adding more pills for pain to an already medically historic drug load may be avoidable. Remember, pain sensitivity is a sign of so-called "higher" evolution!
