HI everyone,

Every time I am tested for iron levels, i am very deficient. My nonLyme dr. says that low, low levels have a really big effect on brain functioning and lots of other things.

But, every time I have tried to supplement with it, my Lyme complex symptoms get worse.

Does anyone know why this would happen? Anyone else experience this?

Thanks!

what about trying to eat more foods high in iron?

just wondering if this also causes your lyme symptoms to flare?

Thats correct. You may have Babesia it effects iron levels because of destruction of red blood cells.

Can be high or low iron.

Iron helps carry oxygen into the cells. B12 is also needed in this process.

I blamed Babesia for years - big mistake!!!!! We finally figured it out. Look for a Wheat allergy - either obvious or hidden - that causes much more damage than simply an iron deficiency.
Read some of my posts on the subject and how wheat and other DNA level allergies affect the brain. Regular blood tests will not reveal these type of allergies.

Take care.

Another option is to take lactoferrin as hubby is doing. It helps the body absorb iron, but binds it up in a way which makes it unavailable to pathogenic organisms.

Hubby has normal iron levels, but low RBC, low hemoglobin and low hematocrit.

I personally think bartonella or the mystery bug most likely uses iron as does babesia.

Some studies suggest that low ferritin without anemia can still cause some fatigue related issues. I'd supp a little bit as you don't want to end up anemic.
