Hello,

I was wondering if anyone knows if its possible to take some form of antibitoics in drop format through the ears and kill the bacteria that lives inside the ear canal and giving me the terrible ringing in head ?

Regards,

Sean.

Some ear drops do contain abx. (It has to be precise Rx solution as some abx in the ears can cause deafness - and some abx actually cause tinnitus.)

The garlic drops work better and are safer.

I have used both Herb Pharm and Eclectic's drop.

These or similar products can be ordered on line or purchased at most health stores or groceries. Follow directions precisely.

Be sure not to drown the ear with drops. Follow directions precisely - and do not use if your ear drum is perforated or you suspect that.

You an also put one drop on a clean cotton ball and gently place into your ear.

As tinnitus is an inner ear issue and any topical antibiotics

Can only travel as far as the ear drum(middle ear),

I doubt it.

Sorry.

The garlic drops can also help if a fungal infection of the ear canal is connected to the tinnitus - and some of the other ingredents such as St. Johns wort and muellin serve to calm the nerves in the ear canal.

This is one thing that someone here as said helped them:

CLEAR TINNITUS

Exerpts:

GOAL: Our goal was to establish the efficacy, in a 12-week period, of Clear Tinnitus for tinnitus relief in patients with tinnitus of the severe, disabling type.

. . . clinical trial of a homeopathic preparation--Clear Tinnitus--we attempted to identify in 15 tinnitus patients (14 male, 1 female; mean age, 47.6 years) its clinical efficacy for establishing tinnitus relief for a 3-month period.

. . .

RESULTS: Eleven of 15 patients completed the study. Seven responders reported tinnitus relief; four did not respond.

Also, as you will see by the links at the Tinnitus thread, there are MANY causes of tinnitus.

Magnesium supplements can help in many ways, as might other suggestions at that link.

And - be sure to avoid aspirin and noise. Wear earplugs around even a hairdryer or vacuum and avoid in-the-ear buds to an iPod.

If you are taking azithromycin (zithromax), minoclycline or Biaxin those can increase tinnitus. More about that at the main thread.

Good luck.

This is not what causes tinnitus.

If the muscles for the tiny bones in the inner ear are too tense, magnesium may help.

If reduced blood flow is influencing the tinnitus, Omega 3's may help.

You can google to find accounts from people who have been helped by this.

Carol is correct.

I had misread your first post and thought you had an earache and wanted ear drops for that - in addition to the tinnitus.

The drops linked above also contain MULLEIN and St. John's wort. Both can help a bit by calming the outer ear, but if your ears don't ache those may not be necessary.

More systemic treatment for the tinnitus. In addition to the Omega 3's (very good stuff), other suggestions at the TINNITUS thread linked above. In addition to magnesium which Carol also suggests, Gingko has helped some.

Yes, Ginko is supposed to increase the blood circulation.

I did try taking this for my brainfog, but I stopped due to heartburn.
