As a result of finding Lymenet, I found a good lyme doc for my daughter. She has finally been diagnosised. She has lymes and 2 strains of babesiosis. She also had ehrlichiosis and bartonella but was cured of those by a chronic fatigue doc who was treating her for lyme.

My daughter has been prescribed Mepron. She is haveing a difficult time getting it down and sometimes keeping it down.

Does anyone have any tricks for taking this medicine?

Thanks in advanced

My child has babesia as well.
It may take awhile to work out a routine. One trick is to follow the dose quickly with something fatty and easily swallowed to sweep the mepron out of the mouth. Peanut butter, ice cream, and even oil or butter may be helpful. My child finds it helpful to take the mepron mid-meal.

Best Wishes for your child's recovery!

I started with a fatty "chaser" of Nutella (chocolate-hazelnut butter, sort of like chocolate peanut butter only better- it's the European version of peanut butter but is available in the US easily, now even at WalMart).

Generally sugar is bad for you with Lyme, but in my case, I had nausea and food all tasted so bad that I suspended the 'low sugar' rule till the nausea got better.

Butter- unsalted butter mixed with alternative sweeteners (stevia for example) and some chocolate is basically a chocolate buttercream frosting. A kid might like that. Heck, even purchased nasty bad-for-you frosting might do it.

If your child doesn't like peanut butter, there are a couple of others- cashew butter is a lot sweeter and creamier than peanut butter, and not as weird to eat 'straight'. Almond butter is very good.

watch out for mepron interactions:

avoid milk thistle and coq10. might be a couple more?

There's a post by an MD in Maryland who disagrees about the CoQ10 - I think the post is not intended to be 'the final word' on it, he tends to use his blog to muse about the unknowns in treatment, and is pretty clear that these are just his opinions:
