i just coughed up this thick pasty yellow goo. Which antibiotics would best deal with this bacterial infection?

probably zithromax(z-pack) if it is the FUNK that is going around. (see yesterdays thread). I went to the doctor today and got the z-pack and some nasonex.
Feel better, Feelfit

I cough that stuff up whenever I have a cold--most do, in fact. What makes you think it's Lyme-related?

adam,
i dont have a cold.

my doc said when my phelgm gets so thick it's practically solid and when it's dark yellow or green, get antibiotics.
he recommended biaxin (which i'm already on) and he's also given me omnicef too.
i think it depends on the person tho.

Randi,
thanks, you described my problem.....thick phlegm. I tried zithromax in the past and it worked but as of 2 years ago it has not worked. biaxin has worked on and off again. i have yet to find a lyme literate dr. so I have to figure things out myself.

hey, don't forget guifensen, er, sorry for spelling. but's not a prescription. you can buy it over the counter as "mucinex". it's supposed to loosen things up.
just an idea, but it doesn't work for me.
always a zebra....

Drink alot of water, to thin out the mucous.
Serrapeptase helps mucous in sinus and in lungs to drain.
Salt inhaler helps to kill bacteria and virus in the lungs, and helps clear out muscous.

I have always had thick mucous. I take 4 guifenesin daily along with a psuedofed to help flush it out. But, if you take this you have to drink a lot of water because it is what helps push the mucous out!! You will get a bad headache if you don't drink lots of water.
Carol, I have never heard of a salt inhaler, where do you get those???
Thanks, Shalome
