IgG 1:256 with normal range being <1:64
IgM <1:20 with normal range being <1:20

my dr said this was positive, but does the IgG mean it's not a current, active infection?

this is my first positive bartonella test but it's been suspected for a while due to my symptoms.

I just took my 3 kids for another visit with Dr. J (the famous one) in CT a few weeks ago. This issue came up with my 2 year old daughter. She had the same numbers as you on her first test for bart.

He told me that the IgG can mean past infection but if this number changes, then you know it is active. He thought that perhaps she could have been exposed and fought it off.

I found it hard to believe that my daughter would have fought it off on her own without treatment, particularly since she has a few suspicious symptoms and also the rest of us are infected. She also has a positive lyme specific band (30) on her Igenex test.

She has been crying in her sleep a lot and having nightmares 3 times per night. She was also becoming very oppositional and crying easily during the day. Due to this, I asked that we start her on Bactrim (along with the azithromycin, which she has been on for 6 months), which was done a couple of weeks ago.

Her sleep and behavior are already better since treatment started, so I'm pretty sure she has active bart, despite the IgG.

hi tickbattler, thank you for your response, it was very helpful.

I'm so sorry your daughter is suffering but glad to hear the treatment is helping!

I too have never been treated for it and I doubt I fought it off considering my immune system is so compromised.

I'll have to talk to my dr at the next appt about treatment options.
