I just started taking Omnicef again. I know that you are not supposed to take it with products containing calcium/iron/zinc.

So does that mean my morning oatmeal (which, naturally, contains some iron) is out? Or is the amount of iron in it too negligible to cause concern?

I feel like I should know the answer to this one by now. If oatmeal is out, what to eat?

Are you eating regular/plain oatmeal or the flavored packets of instant oatmeal? The instant packets are usually vitamin fortified so don't use those. Regular/plain oatmeal should be OK.

You could also try toasting some Ezekiel bread for breakfast. It is high in fiber and protein so it sticks with you well.

Just regular oatmeal, not fortified. I was just checking the nutrition info. and it lists its iron content at 10% RDA.

I've done toast in the past, but I really miss the butter (calcium). Breakfast used to be my favorite meal. Sigh.

I just don't want to do anything, however small, to interfere with my meds. at this point.
