sorry for posting this, but i did the search and nothing came up with ear pain., so here goes.

the last couple of nights, the ear pain has been so bad i can't sleep. the only thing i've done differently is start on those samento drops at 1 twice a day. that's it.

i've noticed my head is hurting more too.

i've got an appt today at 1:30 so i'm going to ask him about this.

i don't know if lyme is getting worse or it's herx time.

herx, do you think?

It's best to get it checked out, just in case it is an actual ear infection.

The months before I was diagnosed I had stabbing pain in both ears daily (and sometimes in my throat). I even started running a low grade fever, but all the doctors said "No ear infection!"

I think mine was from irritation of the ninth cranial nerve (glossopharyngeal) and after starting antibiotics, it got better and never returned!

i've been dealing with bilateral ear infections that are not responnding to abx--for 2 weeks -the fourth one-augmentin might be working

pain was horrible first 2 days-needed vicoden -i hardly use it. they yelled at me for not coming in sooner-my ears were gross inside

i just thought it was herx-but i suggest you go in-no use having pain that can be dealt with-after 24 hrs on abx bad pain went away-its just supposed to be all cleared up after youstop abx and it isn't with me

I've had constant ear pain and pressure for the last 10 years. As a kid I got a lot of ear infections, but this feels different. There is no sign of infection, redness, swelling, anything. It goes along with really swollen lymph nodes for me.

When I herx, this gets a lot worse. I have pretty poor hearing too now (at just age 23) . This got better after I started IV Rocephin 3 weeks ago. Last week it actually felt better for a while. Now it's back as I'm herxing again. But that makes me think it can be resolved with treatment.

Similarly to soliel16, there has been much pain & pressure in my ears for 10+ years with no visible signs of issues. Mine also feels related to lymph nodes.

Additionally, there is also a significant amount of ringing for me, itchiness in my ear canals, some impact on my lower jaw and a rash on either side from my ears to my neck (eczema maybe?).

I've been experiencing ear pain since a spinal tap in Nov. after which all my symptoms went crazy. I am just starting on Cipro for Bartonella and am hoping that will do the trick. Keep your fingers crossed.
Good luck.

just thought i would let you know that my doc examined my ears, and said no herx.

he mentioned that my eardrums were bulging and that he thought it as something, otitis media something or other.

he recommended i try benadryl and if that doesn't work, since i've had so many problems with ringing in the ears and all, plus the sinuses, that i go to a specialist, ent guy....

dang, they won't find anything, they never do and i don't want to waste any money. i still owe that er 1100 then about 400 bucks more for tests and doctors.

Was the doctor you just saw your LLMD?

This is likely very connected to lyme. Most often, other doctors (even ear specialists) simply cannot treat the ears of lyme patients.

Dear RandiBear,

Otitis media is an infection of your middle ear.

You need something more than benadryl.

I know that amoxi and zith are commonly Rx'd for ear infections.

Don't want to leave this untreated.

Your ear drums can rupture (causes scarring on the tympanic membrane)

It is a "breeding" ground for a host infections including meningitis.

The middle ear sits very close to your brain.

Please either get another opinion or seek help from an ENT.

They don't have to be Lyme Literate to cure an ear infection.

Hugs,

Geneal

i'm going to make an appt with an ent. last night was another night with me walking the floor.

you know this didn't start until i tried the samento.

wonder if that did anything?
