To All:

It has been wierd the past few months...

I get really tired around 9PM and say "ok in 5 minutes I'm going to bed."

I take my "sleeping" pills... and anxiety medication and the next thing I know... it's midnight!

Wait.... maybe this post should be on the "brain fog funnies" haha.

I try to fall asleep and my body is really tired, but I can't fall asleep!

Anybody else?

Yep. Know exactly what you mean!
Sometimes there is absolutely no effect and I think that my sleeping pill must have been a dud.

I end up taking a Tylenol PM too but that makes for a very groggy morning. No sleep would be worse though!

Inability to sleep, especially the ability to fall into deep stage REM sleep, is a very common thing for us lymies. Most likely your sleeping meds need

adjusting. See what the others who respond are taking. I use a combination of supplements and pharmaceuticals. I take 200mg of 5HTP, which increases your natural serotonin levels and

3mg. of melatonin along with Ambien. This combo works well for me but it took a while to figure it out.

Unfortunately, we are all affected differently and like everything else with this illness it's trial and error.

It's important that you find a combo that get's you to sleep, not only because it's terrible when you can't sleep but more importantly it's during

deep sleep that the body repairs and replenishes itself, makes hormones, etc.

I don't know for sure if I have LD, but I sure have the terrible insomnia most nights of the week. Like you, I'm ready for bed by 9, and feel really sleepy like I should fall asleep quickly. The minute my head hits the pillow though, I find myself staring at the same spot on the ceiling 2 hours later.......

I sleep for 2 hours, wake up. Sleep 2 more hours, wake again. This is my sleep pattern practically every night of the week. It's taken a major toll on me physically and mentally, especially since I've entered my forties a few years ago.

Usually after I have my morning coffee, I start to feel better, and can get myself moving. I have no choice, because I have a 4 year old girl that's up and ready to go at 7 a.m. so going back to bed after my Hubby leaves for work is not an option.

I've had this insomnia for as long as I can remember, and sadly it's a part of my life. I won't do any sleep meds because I'm afraid of serious reactions while taking them, and I can't risk that while at home caring for a child everyday.

My Hubby has LD, and his former perfect 9 hour sleeping routine is now similar to mine, and we both toss and turn together now!!!

Same scenario. I take my Xanax around 9 so I can be sleepy by 10, usually fall alseep around 11:30 or 12:00. Wake up every 2 to 3 hours. I actually sleep more sound lately though....9 months into treatment. When I wake up I usually take more Xanax. I have tried all kinds of combos for sleep and the Xanax by itself is just as good as a combo. Before LD I could sleep 7 or 8 hours a night without waking up.

I had to start sleeping in another room away from my hubby. Any noise or movement will wake me up immediately.

Thanks for all the replies....

I take 10Mg Valium plus 25mg of Seroquel and I'm wired!

The wierd thing is that when I do fall asleep, there is no waking me up! I usually get up about 8:30AM and boy am I grumpy....


I feel like the walking dead. I'm knocking into stuff in the morning trying to get my IV meds started. Sometimes forgetting what to do.... after doing it for 2 years haha!!!


Then all day I'm tired not feeling good... I can't win!! Very sleep deprived!
