You may be able to use Nexium or a proton pump inhibitor away from your medications. Ask your physician. That may resolve a portion (or perhaps all) your stomach issues.

That is alot to take at once.
I only take doxy and plaquenil after a full meal. That helps alot. Without food, they cause bad nausea, but with alot of food, it is no problem.
Also you can try ginger to reduce nausea. Hope that helps.

I feel terrible all day now. Didnt take anything last night and woke up with an upset stomach anyway
The Dr. is also giving me Prevacid.
What type of food do you eat with your pills?

Have you tried taking them separately throughout the day? My daughter has to take some of her meds an hour apart or she feels sick.
I don't take as many meds as you but I worked up to taking 4 doxy pills per day. When I tried to take 4 too soon, I was nauseous all day the next day. I went back down to 3 for a little longer and then was able to tolerate the full dose of 4. Maybe if you start with fewer meds in the beginning, you can work up to all of that.
When my daughter or I take doxy, I make sure we eat a pretty big serving of carbs like rice or toast.

Very important to eat protein as well with your meals..I find toast on it's own too light and yes, out come the meds.
But add some meat/eggs/tofu/non-dairy protein and you might see some difference. Important to drink a lot as well. It does get better, hang in there.

Just be sure to eat plenty of food with those meds. Not just an apple or something. You might try taking the pills in the middle of a meal.

Also, you should be taking the cholestyramine *away* from the rest of your meds, since it can bind to some medications and decrease their absorption. But yeah -- the doxy itself is rough. Like someone above said, work up to it; and take it with (non-dairy-containing) food.

Thank you all for your help. I'm off my meds as of this weekend and seeing if my stomach will get back to normal
Then I'll start on the doryx slowly instead of all at once and do the rest of what you all said to see if it all helps.
I'm real weak. Dont want to get up out of bed anymore.

Thank You, I did take a break from my meds. Stopped them on Friday and still having stomach problems.
Will it take a couple of days to get rid of it? I think the main trouble is that they started me out on 400mg daily instead of slowly putting me on it.
If my stomach gets better I will probably start with 200mg a day for a week or so and then go to 300 for a week and so on.

I started out high on minocycline 400mg and had the worst stomach issues. Reducing the dosage sounds like a good idea.
Also, the cholestyramine seems to cause some stomach cramping for me. Make sure you take it right before a meal and don't take any meds or supps with the meal. I usually eat a small snack a few hours later with my abx.
