I just noticed that I have blood in my urine. Thought it was my period, but it wasn't.

We are a few hours into a severe winter storm and it is 11:00PM.

By morning we will most likely have 10" of snow.

I have Doxy. Do you think it will help to start taking Doxy tonight?

Hmmm. Are you having any kidney pain? Blood in the urine can be caused by kidney stones and urinary tract infections. Babesia can also cause blood in the urine.

I'm honestly not sure if Doxy treats kidney infections or not...I believe the antibiotic of choice is Cipro.

That being said I would take the Doxy until you can get to a doctor. It certainly won't hurt!

Right now I am only getting a pain on my lower right side near my ovary area. I've had kidney infections before, so far, it doesn't feel like that. It's rare that I get blood with a UTI, normally it is just painful urination, so it has me a little freaked.

I suggest you go on-line and look up causes of blood in urine. Try to figure out what may be causing it in your case--strenuous exercise, taking certain medications, Ex-lax, eating beets, had a fall, etc.

If any of these is the cause, you need not do anything. The condition will clear up on its own.

I am a little south of you, near Baltimore, looking out the window, wondering how much snow we will have by morning.

By tomorrow afternoon we should be fine.

If your blood in urine has stopped...thats great. But if it hasnt, I would recommend you go to the drs asap to get checked over.

Over the weekend I saw the drs for a different set of digestive symptoms, but, the drs asked about blood in urine, tarry stools, as that could be a sign of a kidney, liver, pancreas, stomache problems.

Its best to be safe vs find out later that theres any internal bleeding or infections. Its probably nothing, but just knowing for sure you're fine would give you peace of mind.

Best of luck...

ps: For once, the major snowstorm missed us in Wisc and is headed east... hang in there...its March...
