I used Biaxin with Amoxy for over a year and really loved the combo. You may get loose stools and stomach cramping for a few days but that will resolve itself. Another possible side efffect is a metallic taste in your mouth that goes away for some and not others. It wasn't a problem for me as long as I ate enough.

Biaxin is cool because it treats Lyme and Bart.

Big Lenny,

6 months on Biaxin 500 x 2. Just added Doxy 100x2 a month ago. Biaxin alone took me from 20% function to 80%. Can be rough on the stomach so watch your diet. i had a few bad days early on but they passed an no issues since..

Good luck,

Dave

What Mojo said. I am on amxy, biaxin, plaq and malarone. I started the biaxin and plaq a few days apart, just to be cautious. I have a marked reduction in muscle twitching, which had sort of plateaued over the last 6 months.
Good luck
Kris

I just started biaxin too - have yet to add flagyl. So far I've got my appetite back which doxy took away..in fact I'm ravenous!! Good luck with it!

Biaxin works very well but it can also have psychological side effects that not all pharmacies warn you about . If you get the blues, come back and talk to us, it's probably not "you" or your circumstances but might be the drug or the herx.

OK - so it's DAY 3 of biaxin and I'm only on 1/2 dose (250 mg 2X/day) and already I'm more exhausted, gut issues starting. Think I won't ramp up for another few days.

Yikes I want to sleep all day long...very foggy too. Wonder if this is normal??? [confused]

Yes I herxed alot on Biaxin, but it also clears my head and lessens my pain.

I must say though that it does constipate me!

Also it makes me very dizzy.

I am on the generic for Biaxin, same dose, and it is the only thing I am taking currently. I had the metal taste in my mouth. I also felt more exhausted which never even dawned on me until btmb03 mentioned that.

Lymeherx, I'd give anything for my head to clear and lessen my pain. Yup, dizzy too. How do people get thru all this stuff...and it's just the beginning?

Lots of yogurt (yuck), probiotics, fluids, anything else?

Ive been herxing on it for 5-6 years. Some say its not herxing. But then others say that mycoplasma have a 7 year cycle, and the growth rate for lyme is slow too!

Right now I know that I have a mycoplasma infection. Also I tested positive for lyme but my LLMD thinks that its not an issue any more??

Yet I still post to this board because everyone here can relate and sound like myself!

I think most of us have the same type of thing going on; a chronic infection that attacks and weakens the immune system and lives in our cells zapping us of energy.
