Has anyone heard of this test? My doctor said it was the best, is it better than Igenix? I tested negative for it so my doctor doesn't think I have lyme she feels it's mixed connective tissue disease. Since this doctor is a LLMD and Rheum. I'm not sure if I should get a second opinion or go by what she says. She is Dr. G in NJ and was the president of the lyme board a few years back so she is one of the best. But as we all know even the best can make mistakes. I was going to go for a second opinion to a Dr. C in Westchester but he only used Stoneybrook labs and I heard that wasn't as good. I'm really confused as to what I should do, I know Lyme can mimic mixed connective tissue disease so not sure if I should keep looking for a doctor to give me the igenix test or stick with Dr. G?

I've been on plaquenil for 3 weeks now and still don't feel any better. Has anyone else been diagnosed with this disease and later on found out it was lyme?

No 'real' LLMD would put credibility in a C-6 Peptide test...get yourself a new doc.

Actually "real LLMD's" do put credibility in the C-6 peptide test. LymeBlogMD believes that it is a credible test as part of the puzzle. Certainly not the only test to use. A Western Blot is better.

And Seek is right, if your doctor is basing your diagnosis soley on the C-6 Peptide test, you need to find someone who weighs all factors...

The C6 test is not uncommon, but the results of that alone are not much better than WB, which is not that great anyway.

C6 is related to ELISA and western blots in a way - they all measure the response that your body is producing to the bacteria, not the bacteria itself.

Igenex is the company, not the test - the way they build and intrepret their Western Blots is just considered more sensitive than other labs that use commercial kits. Igenex can run the C6 test as well - it is #170 on the form.

Thank you, I will get the tests from Igenix labs.

I treated with her for over a year and I agree that she definitely treated SOLELY on my C-6 peptide results.

As the results of this test had no direct correlation to the severity of my symptoms, I ended up switching to a new LLMD who treated more comprehensively.

Just my 2 cents.
